{"id":78287,"date":"2025-07-20T15:18:12","date_gmt":"2025-07-20T15:18:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/78287\/"},"modified":"2025-07-20T15:18:12","modified_gmt":"2025-07-20T15:18:12","slug":"clippers-continue-to-strongly-consider-signing-chris-paul","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/78287\/","title":{"rendered":"Clippers continue to &#8216;strongly&#8217; consider signing Chris Paul"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>As <a href=\"https:\/\/www.latimes.com\/sports\/clippers\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:Clippers;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">Clippers<\/a> president of basketball operations <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=Jm5b5VZHMMI\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:Lawrence Frank;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">Lawrence Frank<\/a> conducted his Zoom with the media Saturday from the team\u2019s practice facility, he looked to his right and mentioned how <a href=\"https:\/\/www.latimes.com\/sports\/clippers\/story\/2025-06-29\/james-harden-to-sign-two-year-81-5-million\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:James Harden;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">James Harden<\/a> was in the gym working out and how Harden played a pivotal role in the team signing free-agent guard <a href=\"https:\/\/www.latimes.com\/sports\/clippers\/story\/2025-07-16\/l-clippers-to-land-bradley-beal-after-suns-contract-buyout\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:Bradley Beal;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">Bradley Beal<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>But Frank is not done building a roster to compete in the rugged Western Conference, indicating that signing former Clippers guard <a href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/p\/paulch01.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:Chris Paul;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">Chris Paul<\/a> is high on their list.<\/p>\n<p>Advertisement<\/p>\n<p>There have been so many rumors about Paul wanting to play for the Clippers in the upcoming season, about how he wanted to be close to his family in the Los Angeles area, and how the Clippers had interest in him returning to the franchise.<\/p>\n<p>Frank didn\u2019t shy away from how the Clippers view having Paul on the roster.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe obviously possesses some of the qualities we just referenced about and of course we\u2019re strongly, strongly considering him,\u201d Frank said.<\/p>\n<p>Paul, 40, played in all 82 games last season with the San Antonio Spurs. He averaged 28.0 minutes per game, 8.8 points, 3.6 rebounds, 7.4 assists and shot 42.7% from the field.<\/p>\n<p>Advertisement<\/p>\n<p><b>Read more:<\/b> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.latimes.com\/sports\/story\/2025-07-18\/summer-league-roundup-thursday-lakers-and-clippers-games?utm_source=yahoo&amp;utm_medium=promo_module&amp;utm_campaign=rss_feed\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:It&#039;s official: The Clippers sign Bradley Beal;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">It&#8217;s official: The Clippers sign Bradley Beal<\/a><\/p>\n<p>He spent six years with the Clippers, from 2011-12 until the 2016-17 season, and ushered in the \u201cLob City\u201d era with Blake Griffin and DeAndre Jordan.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat I\u2019d say about Chris is he\u2019s a great player,\u201d Frank said. \u201cHe\u2019s a great Clipper.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Paul was traded in June of 2017 to the Houston Rockets, where he became a teammate of Harden.<\/p>\n<p>Over the course of his 20-year career, Paul averaged 17.0 points, 9.2 assists and shot 47% from the field and 37% from three-point range.<\/p>\n<p>If the Clippers do sign him, they will have three point guards \u2014 Harden, Kris Dunn and Paul.<\/p>\n<p>Advertisement<\/p>\n<p>Frank said the Clippers want to \u201clean into the ballhandling and playmaking\u201d as they look to complete the roster.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat we&#8217;ve seen is sometimes the problem of having too many guys and how that can impact the team,\u201d Frank said. \u201cSo, we&#8217;ve learned from those lessons and I think the conversations that we have with anyone who&#8217;s going to join the Clippers next, they understand it&#8217;s a reserve role. They understand that kind of going into camp exactly what it looks like. He averaged 22.8 points, 8.7 assists, 5.8 rebounds and shot 41% from the field and 35.3% from three-point range.<\/p>\n<p>He\u2019ll be 36 in August and having more playmaking guards like Paul will relieve some of the pressure off Harden.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe reality is for any NBA team, the amount of times you have your top 10 all available, it&#8217;s usually 21 to 25 times throughout the course of a year,\u201d Frank said. \u201cSo, you literally need everyone on your roster to be able to contribute. But to your point, because we do have a lot of versatility. \u2026<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;So, Brad Beal could give us more playmaking with the ball. \u2026 Kris Dunn can be the backup point guard. Bogdan can handle along with James. You just want to put everything on the table and then find the best person who can have total role acceptance and awareness and still if needed to play can play.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Advertisement<\/p>\n<p>Beal, 32, signed a two-year, $11-million deal with the Clippers, with a player option after next season.
