Los Angeles Theatre Newsletter<\/p>\n<p class=\"newsletter-subtitle\" style=\"color: #cccccc; font-size: 16px; margin: 0 0 20px 0; line-height: 1.5; font-family: 'Arial', sans-serif;\">\n            Get all the top news &amp; discounts for Los Angeles &amp; beyond.\n        <\/p>\n<p>Written and performed by Varco, the production is directed by Meridith Grundei and produced by <a target=\"newwinddow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.broadwayworld.com\/people\/Jessica-Lynn-Johnson\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Jessica <\/a><a target=\"newwinddow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.broadwayworld.com\/people\/Lynn-Johnson\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Lynn Johnson<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Described as a fast-paced magical realism piece performed through 20 characters, RISE explores mental health, adverse childhood experiences (ACEs), addiction, denial, and healing.<\/p>\n<p>The solo show follows a range of characters including \u201cTruth,\u201d \u201cChildhood Rage,\u201d and \u201cWriter\u2019s Rage,\u201d unfolding on what the production describes as a metaphorical moon. Written entirely in rhyme and staged with only a chair, the piece combines dramatic storytelling with comedic elements while addressing themes related to foster care and trauma.<\/p>\n<p>Varco previously appeared at Hollywood Fringe in 2017 with her solo show Shattered.<\/p>\n<p>A trained improviser and character actor, Varco uses comedy and character work to approach difficult subject matter including child abuse, addiction, and self-sabotage.<\/p>\n<p>According to the production, RISE examines \u201cthe concept of rage, judgment and self-sabotage\u201d while searching for hope and resilience in painful experiences.<\/p>\n<p>RISE will run for 60 minutes with no intermission and will be presented at The Actor&#8217;s Company (The Other Space), located at 916 N.
