The ceremony came after the various dignitaries rode on the inaugural train through the extended subway corridor.<\/p>\n<p>Passenger service to the new stations began at 12:30 p.m. Friday.<\/p>\n<p>The first phase of the project brought stops at Wilshire\/La Brea, Wilshire\/Fairfax and Wilshire\/La Cienega, providing a direct rail link from downtown Los Angeles to the edge of Beverly Hills.<\/p>\n<p>The second phase of the subway extension, tentatively set to open in spring 2027, will add stations in Beverly Hills and Century City. The third phase, tentatively planned for fall 2027, will add stations at UCLA and the VA hospital.<\/p>\n<p>The overall extension effort is expected to cost nearly $10 billion.<\/p>\n<p><b>2.\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/spectrumnews1.com\/ca\/la\/business\/2026\/05\/08\/gm-driver-data-california-lawsuit-settlement\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">GM will pay California $12.75M for selling driver location and behavior data<\/a><\/b><\/p>\n<p>General Motors will pay $12.75 million to settle a California consumer protection lawsuit that alleged the company illegally sold drivers\u2019 behavior and location data, the state\u2019s attorney general announced Friday.<\/p>\n<p>The settlement requires GM to stop selling driver data to consumer reporting agencies, including data brokers, for five years and to delete any driving data within 180 days except for limited internal uses.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re talking about data that not only shows how a person drove but also precisely where they drove, which could easily be used to paint a picture of their everyday habits and movements,\u201d California Attorney General Rob Bonta said at a news conference announcing the largest Consumer Privacy Act penalty in the state\u2019s history.<\/p>\n<p><b>3.\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/spectrumnews1.com\/ca\/la\/crime\/2026\/05\/08\/human-remains-kristin-smart\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Evidence points to human remains at home linked to Kristin Smart&#8217;s killing, sheriff says<\/a><\/b><\/p>\n<p>A California sheriff says that evidence suggests human remains were present at a home connected to the man convicted of killing 19-year-old college student Kristin Smart in 1996. San Luis Obispo County Sheriff Ian Parkinson said Friday that they cannot say whether the remains are those of Smart.<\/p>\n<p>The office served a warrant this week on the home of Susan Flores but has not said what prompted the search.<\/p>\n<p>Her son Paul Flores was convicted in 2022 of killing Smart, whose body was never found. For Harris, the film is a chance to invite more audiences to join Racine (Kara Young) and Anaia (Mallori Johnson) on their epic road trip to their destiny.<\/p>\n<p>Playing the twin\u2019s mother, also known as Ruby the God, is Vivica A. Fox. In the film, her final wish is for her daughters to kill their father in revenge. \u201cMake your daddy dead.
