{"id":784669,"date":"2026-05-09T17:04:22","date_gmt":"2026-05-09T17:04:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/784669\/"},"modified":"2026-05-09T17:04:22","modified_gmt":"2026-05-09T17:04:22","slug":"major-fire-at-san-diego-mission-bay-boat-ski-club","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/784669\/","title":{"rendered":"Major fire at San Diego Mission Bay Boat &#038; Ski Club"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>SAN DIEGO (FOX 5\/KUSI) \u2014 Fire crews battled a major blaze Saturday morning at the San Diego Mission Bay Boat &amp; Ski Club, leaving the building with significant damage and prompting a safety closure.<\/p>\n<p>According to San Diego Fire-Rescue officials, a call came in around 4 a.m. reporting smoke and flames at the club, which is located at 2606 N. Mission Bay Drive.<\/p>\n<p>Responding crews found an active fire in the rear patio area of the building. The fire had also spread into the structure and in a concealed space between the roof and attic.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/fox5sandiego.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/15\/2026\/05\/Mission-Bay-Boat-Ski-Club-5.png\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"1009\" height=\"598\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/Mission-Bay-Boat-Ski-Club-5.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-2745254\"  \/><\/a>Fire crews battled a major blaze Saturday, May 9, 2026, at the Mission Bay Boat &amp; Ski Club. (KSWB)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a class=\"wp-block-jetpack-slideshow_button-prev swiper-button-prev swiper-button-white\" role=\"button\"\/><a class=\"wp-block-jetpack-slideshow_button-next swiper-button-next swiper-button-white\" role=\"button\"\/><a aria-label=\"Pause Slideshow\" class=\"wp-block-jetpack-slideshow_button-pause\" role=\"button\"\/><\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe aggressive efforts of our first responding fire officers and firefighters were able to limit the damage,\u201d Diaz said. \u201cWe were able to protect most of the structure interior.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Despite the intensity of the blaze, no injuries were reported.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere are a lot of boats on this property,\u201d Diaz continued. \u201cFortunately, our crews did a great job of confining the fire to the building area of origin and it did not extend to any other structures.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\t<a href=\"https:\/\/fox5sandiego.com\/news\/local-news\/vegetation-fires-san-diego\/?ipid=promo-link-block1\" class=\"promo-link__link\" target=\"&quot;_blank&quot;\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\"><br \/>\n\t\tVegetation fires spark in Otay Mesa, Lake Morena\t<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Officials said the building will be \u201cred tagged,\u201d meaning it has been deemed unsafe to occupy due to the extent of the damage both inside and outside the structure.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/fox5sandiego.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/15\/2026\/05\/Mission-Bay-Boat-Ski-Club-4.png\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"968\" height=\"608\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/Mission-Bay-Boat-Ski-Club-4.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-2745253\"  \/><\/a>Fire crews battled a major blaze Saturday, May 9, 2026, at the Mission Bay Boat &amp; Ski Club. (KSWB)<\/p>\n<p>The cause of the fire remains under investigation. SDFD\u2019s Metro Arson Strike Team was called to the scene and is working to determine a cause, point of origin and a damage estimate.<\/p>\n<p>About 80 personnel responded to the scene.
