John Cena might be teasing something even bigger than Club WWE for Backlash after all.<\/p>\n

After days of people believing Cena\u2019s \u201chistoric\u201d WWE Backlash announcement was tied to Club WW<\/a>E, there\u2019s now talk backstage that the company could be hiding something much larger.<\/p>\n

According to WrestleVotes<\/a>, there was internal chatter backstage at SmackDown that Cena\u2019s announcement may go beyond the fan-experience project everyone has been talking about.<\/p>\n

\u201cBackstage at SmackDown last night, there was some internal hope that tonight\u2019s \u2018historic\u2019 announcement from John Cena goes beyond anything Club WWE related. That said, according to one source, if that\u2019s the direction, it\u2019s been kept very quiet behind the scenes.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

That\u2019s a major shift from earlier speculation pointing directly at Club WWE being the focus of Cena\u2019s appearance. Cena kicked off the hype earlier this week when he claimed his Backlash announcement could change WWE itself.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn just a few days, I have a major announcement inside this building that is going to shock the very foundation of WWE. From its fans to its superstars, champions down to its rookies.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

He followed that up by calling it \u201chistory-making news\u201d that would change the WWE experience for fans and talent alike.<\/p>\n

\u201cI am SO excited to break some history-making news! I can\u2019t promise it\u2019ll be perfect but I can promise it will change the WWE experience for Superstars and fans!\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Now, with WWE apparently keeping details locked down backstage, fans are back to guessing what Cena is really about to reveal at Backlash. Whatever it is, WWE clearly wants people talking heading into the event.<\/p>\n
