Amcor Rigid Packaging USA<\/strong> is planning to cut 56 jobs<\/strong> in Fort Worth this summer, according<\/a> to a new filing with the Texas Workforce Commission, as the packaging giant continues integrating operations following its multibillion-dollar merger with Berry Global.<\/p>\n The notice, posted May 7 in the Texas Workforce Commission\u2019s WARN database, shows the layoffs are scheduled to begin July 2 at the company\u2019s Fort Worth operation in Tarrant County<\/strong>. The filing lists 56 affected workers and indicates that the state received the notice on May 1.<\/p>\n The layoffs come as Amcor, a global packaging manufacturer with more than 400 facilities worldwide, continues consolidating operations after completing its $8.4 billion merger with Berry Global in April 2025. The company website<\/a> says it operates in more than 40 countries and employs roughly 75,000 workers globally.<\/p>\n Under the federal Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act, commonly known as the WARN Act, certain large employers are generally required to provide at least 60 days\u2019 advance notice before mass layoffs or plant closures. In Texas, those notices are submitted to the Texas Workforce Commission, which publishes the filings through its Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification database to alert workers, local officials, and workforce agencies about upcoming job losses.<\/p>\n The Fort Worth filing follows other restructuring-related moves tied to the Amcor-Berry integration.<\/p>\n A former Berry Global plastics facility in Lanett, Alabama, closed on July 1, 2025, affecting 112 workers, according to a WARN notice filed with the Alabama Department of Commerce. Production from that facility was supposed to be integrated into other Amcor operations, according<\/a> to Plastics Today\u2019s reporting.<\/p>\n An Amcor spokesperson reportedly told<\/a> AL.com the Alabama closure was tied to \u201cchanging market conditions.\u201d The closure announcement came one day before the merger with Berry officially closed, according to the report.<\/p>\n The company did not return The Dallas Express\u2019 request for comment on the latest workforce reductions.<\/p>\n During a recent earnings call discussed in a Packaging Dive report<\/a>, executives said the company continues to pursue\u00a0merger-related \u201csynergies\u201d and operational consolidation. Amcor reportedly said it generated approximately $77 million in synergies during the latest quarter and expects roughly $650 million in total synergies over the first three years following the merger.<\/p>\n The company\u2019s executives also disclosed plans to establish a new U.S. headquarters in Miami beginning in 2027 while maintaining parts of its corporate footprint in Switzerland and Australia.<\/p>\n Amcor reported quarterly net sales of $5.91 billion for the fiscal third quarter ending March 31, with rigid packaging sales climbing sharply following the Berry acquisition, per<\/a> Packaging Dive. However, the company said combined packaging volumes declined about 1.5% year over year across both flexibles and rigids.<\/p>\n Executives also cited storm-related disruptions in the United States and higher inventory costs linked to instability in the Middle East, although CEO Peter Konieczny reportedly said the company does not expect the regional conflict to materially impact fourth-quarter earnings, according to Packaging Dive.<\/p>\n The Fort Worth cuts add to a broader series of workforce reductions recently disclosed across industries in North Texas.<\/p>\n
