They were shut out for a second time in that stretch in a one-hit loss on Friday and have several regulars slumping heading into Saturday\u2019s 4:15 p.m. first pitch on FOX.<\/p>\n<p>The headline that\u2019s been stated over and over and over: <strong>Fernando Tatis Jr.<\/strong> has not homered yet this season.<\/p>\n<p>He ranks in the 98th percentile in hard-hit rate (58.7%) and in the 91st percentile in average exit velocity (92.8 mph), but his groundball rate to date (52.9%) is the worst of his career, as is his average launch angle (2.8 degrees).<\/p>\n<p>Tatis was 0-for-2 with a walk on Friday and is hitting .243\/.275\/.324 for a .599 OPS in 10 games played since the trip through elevation.<\/p>\n<p>He\u2019s not alone in his struggles even as he returns to the two-hole for the first time since Monday.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">How we\u2019re lining up tonight. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/bl0ebVMPrx\" rel=\"nofollow\">pic.twitter.com\/bl0ebVMPrx<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 San Diego Padres (@Padres) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Padres\/status\/2053207468248015133?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">May 9, 2026<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><strong>Manny Machado<\/strong> is 0-for-19 over his last five games and has a .541 OPS in since the return from Mexico City. That includes a 5.40 ERA in 28\u2153 innings last year after the trade to Boston. May has a 2.45 ERA over his last five starts. V\u00e1squez has a 4.35 ERA in four starts so far this year at Petco Park.
