\u201cHe doesn\u2019t chase, he doesn\u2019t chase at all,\u201d manager Will Venable said of Vargas on Tuesday. \u201cAnd he\u2019s doing damage too. I think you mix those things together with the way he runs the bases, how hard he runs the bases, the defense as well, you have a really good baseball player before I even talk about the impact he has on his teammates and in the clubhouse.<\/p>\n

Vargas had a .218\/.360\/.421 slash line with the seven home runs, 18 RBIs, 26 runs and six stolen bases.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019ve been feeling all right (at the plate),\u201d Vargas said. \u201cI\u2019m at a good place, I like where my approach is at. For me, some nights you\u2019re not going to get the results you want. But definitely, I feel good when I follow my approach and I commit to it.<\/p>\n
\u201cThat\u2019s all I can control about the game. The game is hard. As a group, we\u2019re in a good spot, for sure.\u201d<\/p>\n
As a team, the Sox were tied for third in the AL in home runs (47) and tied for sixth in walks (151).<\/p>\n
\u201cThe thing I love about it is we\u2019re fighting from one to nine,\u201d Vargas said. \u201cEvery guy has a game plan and they follow that game plan.\u201d<\/p>\n
Vargas said \u201c100%\u201d in agreement when asked of Murakami\u2019s impact in lengthening the lineup.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhen you trust the guy behind you every time, every night, it\u2019s great for everyone here,\u201d Vargas said.<\/p>\n
Vargas also continues to see the progress of teammates such as Montgomery and Chase Meidroth, who were called up from the minors last year and are experiencing their first full major-league season in 2026.<\/p>\n
\u201cThey\u2019ve been doing a great job,\u201d Vargas said. \u201cTheir addition in this lineup has been great for us. \u2026 They want to be part of the group, they want to contribute to the team and win games. And that\u2019s what we want in the clubhouse.\u201d<\/p>\n
Vargas wanted to make improvements defensively, and he is excited that the work during spring training is showing early in the season.<\/p>\n
\u201cAs a group, we\u2019ve been doing a great job on defense,\u201d he said. \u201cWe\u2019ve had a lot of close games, and I want to be a part of it. I saw everybody dive for the ball, everybody making plays and I want to be part of it. When you\u2019ve got tight games, and you\u2019ve got the energy, that\u2019s all we want.<\/p>\n
\u201cI want to be out there for the pitcher, I want to make some plays and be out there for the boys too.\u201d<\/p>\n
Vargas said in general the energy in the clubhouse has been \u201cunbelievable.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cWe can feel everybody together, everybody\u2019s trying to win,\u201d Vargas said. \u201cThat\u2019s a great thing to have in the clubhouse. We can see the results that come from that energy.\u201d<\/p>\n
