FORT WORTH, Texas \u2014 A security guard at a Fort Worth after-hours club was shot and killed Sunday morning, prompting community members to call for a change in the neighborhood.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Officers responded to a shooting call around 5:45 a.m. on Sunday, May 10, in the 4500 block of Miller Avenue, the Fort Worth Police Department said in a press release. Police on the scene said a suspect shot a man who was declared dead on the scene, and a woman was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Investigators found that the victim, identified as Dominique Coleman, was working as a security officer after hours when he crossed the street to speak with another person, according to the release. A confrontation ensued, and a suspect shot Coleman and the other adult woman, officials said.\u00a0<\/p>\n
In a press release, community members identified the man killed and announced they will protest the business where the victim worked as a security guard. They say the business, called Club New Start, is not cooperating with law enforcement, the release states.\u00a0<\/p>\n
“Protesters are calling on city officials and local authorities to immediately investigate the establishment and take action to shut the club down, citing ongoing safety concerns for the surrounding community,” the release states.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The suspect left the scene, police said.\u00a0<\/p>\n
