It honors the cultural traditions of Chinese dim sum and aims to fill, as the staff says, a gap by offering authentic and modern Chinese cuisine to locals in Tribeca and the Financial District on Wall Street, as well as corporate clients.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI grew up here in Chinatown, I came here when I was 9 years old,\u201d said Barry Huang, manager of the restaurant. \u201cAs I have grown up in a Chinese family and tradition, dim sum is a very important type of food because every Sunday when we have family day, that\u2019s when we go out to eat dim sum.\u201d\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDim sum to me is part of getting the family to come together and spending quality time together,\u201d he added. \u201cOf course, for Mother\u2019s Day, we want to use that as a way to share love with the most important person in the family.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><b>Keeping tradition in Tribeca<\/b><\/p>\n<p>At the Palace, the restaurant operated as an Indian restaurant and an authentic Chinese restaurant for more than two decades.\u00a0 Now, the restaurant is welcoming a menu that blends classic dim sum with trend-driven dishes appealing to both longtime fans of Chinese cuisine and younger diners looking for something new. A key essential of New Yorkers.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI personally grew up in Chinatown, so I personally know how important the cuisine is,\u201d Huang said. \u201cIt is also very hard to find a good Chinese restaurant in Tribeca right now. If you look at our menu, we have a very wide selection of Western and authentic Chinese cuisines and dim sum.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.amny.com\/?attachment_id=137847827\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-137847827 nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-large wp-image-137847827\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/stir-fry.jpg\" alt=\"The stove at Upon the Palace is constantly moving.\" width=\"1200\" height=\"675\" title=\"Upon the Palace offers all-you-can-eat dim sum experience for Mother's Day 2\"  \/><\/a>The stove at Upon the Palace is constantly moving.Photo by Bridgette Leahy<\/p>\n<p>Signature dishes include soup dumplings, truffle pork and shrimp shumai, roasted pork buns, chicken lettuce cups, sizzling beef, Imperial Chicken, and steak options like wagyu and ribeye\u2014less traditional, but popular with guests.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPeople are always looking for something trendy,\u201d Huang said. \u201cYou\u2019ve got to put the authentic and trendy together and see what works.\u201d\n<\/p>\n<p><b>Honing the dim sum experience<\/b><\/p>\n<p>At the center of the restaurant\u2019s concept is its in-house dim-sum station, where guests can watch chefs hand-roll dumplings throughout the evening.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe station is right here,\u201d he said, pointing toward the front-facing kitchen counter that was once a sushi station.\u201d \u201cAt 5 p.m., the chef will showcase the dough, as well as prepping the soup dumplings, shrimp dumplings, pork dumplings, and vegetable dumplings in front of guests.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The interactive center station is the restaurant\u2019s main attraction.\n<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have guests asking questions,\u201d Huang said. \u201cThat is what I want to bring to Upon the Palace.
