A security guard was killed and a woman was injured in a shooting early Sunday near an after-hours club in Fort Worth, police said.<\/p>\n
Officers responded to the shooting about 5:45 a.m. in the 4500 block of Miller Avenue, police said in a news release. A police 911 call log lists the address as 4505 Miller, which is Club New Start night club.<\/p>\n
The Fort Worth Fire Department and officers arrived on scene to provide medical aid.<\/p>\n
Based on preliminary information, investigators determined the security guard, who was working after hours, crossed the street to a nearby business and began talking with a person. A confrontation ensued, and the person shot the guard, who died at the scene, police said.<\/p>\n
The suspect also shot a woman, who suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to a hospital, before fleeing the scene, according to police.<\/p>\n
Police said homicide detectives are investigating the shooting. No arrests have been announced.<\/p>\n
The Tarrant County Medical Examiner\u2019s Office will identify the man who died after next of kin have been notified.<\/p>\n
Members of the community are planning a protest outside Club New Start at 6 p.m. Sunday and calling for the club to be shut down, according to social media posts.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
