Two people are dead after a light plane crash in Queensland\u2019s<\/a> southeast.<\/p>\n

Emergency services were called to Oakey Cooyar Road in Kelvinhaugh, near Toowoomba<\/a>, just after 3pm on Sunday.<\/p>\n

Paramedics rushed to the scene and treated two people, who were declared dead at the scene.<\/p>\n

Queensland Police Acting Senior Sergeant Matt Forbes described the plane as a \u201cfireball\u201d after it crashed in a field.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe property owner was home at the time, heard a loud explosion, and was able to contact Emergency Services,\u201d he said, in quotes reported by the ABC<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe two occupants of the plane died on impact. It was a very large fireball.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe investigations show the plane was a commercial plane involved in a routine flight. We know the plane did land in Warwick before coming here.\u201d<\/p>\n

A later police statement confirmed the bodies are yet to be identified with forensic testing underway.<\/p>\n

Queensland Fire Department said the plane had caught fire on impact, with three crews sent out to extinguish the blaze.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Forensic Crash Unit will attend the incident and will assist partner agencies in investigating the circumstances of the incident.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Australian Transport Safety Bureau said it is preparing to investigate the accident, and will deploy investigators to the accident site.<\/p>\n
