I know where I want to go, and that’s Ohio State, so I really just don’t see no point in going anywhere else, honestly,” Brown said.

Brown has been committed to Ohio State since November 2024, but that hasn’t stopped other schools from continuing to pursue him. He made trips to several other schools last year, and told On3 at the Polynesian Bowl in January that he was planning to make official visits to Miami and Oregon in addition to Ohio State this summer.

Recently, however, Brown told Ohio State coach Ryan Day that he was fully committed to the Buckeyes and no longer considering other offers.

“My recruitment’s been shut down for a minute, I just haven’t made it public,” Brown said. “Me and Coach Day had a conversation, so it just felt great shutting down my recruitment, knowing how bad I still wanted to be there, knowing how bad Coach Day still wants me to be there and the staff. And I just can’t wait to get up there and be great.”

“I know where I want to go, and that’s Ohio State, so I really just don’t see no point in going anywhere else.”– Jamier Brown on shutting down his recruitment

One factor that could have opened the door for other schools to flip Brown was the departure of former Ohio State offensive coordinator and wide receivers coach Brian Hartline to become the head coach at South Florida. But Brown says he’s built a great relationship with new Ohio State wide receivers coach Cortez Hankton, solidifying his commitment to the Buckeyes.

“We’ve been connecting very well since he’s been here,” Brown said. “He wants (success) bad for everybody that he coaches, and as great as he wants you to be, he wants to be great, too. So that’s what I like about him.”

Brown will play his senior season of high school football just about 25 miles north of Ohio State at Big Walnut High School in Sunbury, Ohio, where he transferred earlier this year after previously playing for Wayne High School in Huber Heights. The move closer to Columbus has made Brown feel even more connected to the Buckeyes, as he’s been able to make more frequent trips to Ohio State.

Ranked as the No. 1 prospect from Ohio, No. 4 wide receiver and No. 21 overall prospect in the 2027 class, Brown is currently the only wide receiver committed to Ohio State in the rising senior class. Brown has talked to some of the other top receivers in the class about potentially joining him at Ohio State, including fellow five-stars Monshun Sales and Eric McFarland III and four-star Pennsylvania wideout Khalil Taylor, as well as 2028 five-star Brysen Wright.

Much like current Ohio State star Jeremiah Smith, however, Brown says he isn’t much of a talker, preferring to keep his focus on just working hard. So he’s glad to have his recruitment behind him and be able to just focus on football entering his final year of high school.

“It kind of depends on the day, but it does take a lot off my shoulders to just focus on one school and not talking to thousands of other schools,” Brown said.

Brown’s ability to be one of the next star receivers at Ohio State was on full display at Sunday’s camp, where he was among the day’s top standouts with a dominant performance that included multiple touchdown catches in one-on-ones.

Jamier Brown with a nice hands catch over coverage on a deep ball in one-on-ones pic.twitter.com/u4jdOpb3DR

— Dan Hope (@Dan_Hope) May 10, 2026

Jamier Brown turns a would-be pass breakup into a touchdown with a catch off the deflection. pic.twitter.com/wQ9wRdC34u

— Dan Hope (@Dan_Hope) May 10, 2026

Even though Brown says he’s shut down his recruitment, Ohio State only needs to look back at the recruitments of Smith and fellow five-star wide receiver Chris Henry Jr. to know it can’t take Brown’s commitment for granted. Smith was committed to Ohio State for more than two years and repeatedly reaffirmed his commitment publicly, yet the Buckeyes still had to fend off a late charge from Miami on signing day. Henry was also committed to Ohio State for more than two years and publicly announced he was shutting down his recruitment last April, yet the Buckeyes still had to fend off late charges from Oregon and Texas after Hartline’s departure.

Nevertheless, Brown’s decision to make no other official visits shows that he fully intends to become a Buckeye next year. And he’s working hard to give himself a chance to become Ohio State’s next star receiver.

“I like to show everybody that I put work in, so that’s why I wanna be here (at Ohio State),” Brown said. “If you can compete at Ohio State, you can compete anywhere.”

Jamier Brown says he’s done entertaining interest from other schools.
