Three people on board the luxury cruise ship have died, and at least nine others have suspected cases.<\/p>\n<p>The California resident is being monitored in coordination with the California Department of Public Health and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the agency said. <\/p>\n<p><a class=\"link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cdph.ca.gov\/Programs\/OPA\/Pages\/NR26-017.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">CDPH acknowledged in a statement Friday<\/a> that one California resident had already returned home, but didn\u2019t disclose where they lived. The agency said another Californian remained on the ship as of Friday. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cAt this time, there is no known risk to the public in Santa Clara County,\u201d said Sarah Rudman, director of the Santa Clara County Public Health Department.<\/p>\n<p>The CDC has <a class=\"link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.latimes.com\/0000019e-09ad-d678-a7be-c9fde7080000-123\" data-autoplayable-video=\"true\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">emphasized<\/a> that the risk to the American public \u201cis extremely low\u201d as American passengers stuck on the ship begin to return home.<\/p>\n<p>Hantavirus is a rare disease typically transmitted to humans through inhalation of particles contaminated with the urine, droppings or saliva from a rodent.<\/p>\n<p>Passengers began disembarking <a class=\"link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/search?q=the+ship+Sunday+in+the+Canary+Islands&amp;oq=the+ship+Sunday+in+the+Canary+Islands&amp;gs_lcrp=EgZjaHJvbWUyBggAEEUYOTIHCAEQIRigATIHCAIQIRigATIHCAMQIRigATIHCAQQIRigATIHCAUQIRigATIHCAYQIRirAtIBBzE3OGowajSoAgCwAgE&amp;sourceid=chrome&amp;ie=UTF-8\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">the ship Sunday in the Canary Islands<\/a>.
