UT Southwestern is working on<\/a> a multispecialty surgical care center focused on cancer treatment in Fort Worth\u2019s Clearfork area.<\/p>\n The site is currently owned and operated by Texas Health Resources in Clearfork and includes the hospital, medical office building and parking at 5400 Clearfork Main St.<\/p>\n \u201cUT Southwestern intends to eventually staff and operate it as a pavilion of William P. Clements Jr. University Hospital, supporting comprehensive care for patients with complex needs, with a particular focus on cancer treatment,\u201d UT Southwestern officials wrote in an internal newsletter last fall.<\/p>\n In April, Texas Health spokesperson Kimberly Walton said Texas Health and UT\u202fSouthwestern have a long-standing relationship and a shared vision for Texas Health Clearfork.\u00a0<\/p>\n \u201cPlans are under development, and Texas Health will continue to operate the facility until fall 2027,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n UT Southwestern has been expanding its presence in Fort Worth for years. The healthcare system broke ground last year on a $177 million Radiation Oncology campus on the Near Southside that will be connected to the existing UT Southwestern Moncrief Cancer Institute<\/a>.<\/p>\n The Radiation Oncology campus and hospital will significantly expand cancer treatment services available in Fort Worth for adults and children, Fort Worth philanthropist Kit Moncrief told the Report in an interview for the prestigious annual Golden Deeds Award<\/a> on May 7. The Moncrief family have long been backers of UT Southwestern\u2019s Fort Worth expansion.<\/p>\n Moncrief said UT Southwestern will lease the Texas Health building.\u00a0<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019ll be a UT Southwestern hospital,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n Moncrief\u2019s husband, Charlie, died of brain cancer<\/a> in 2021.<\/p>\n \u201cWe drove every day for six weeks to Dallas to have radiation,\u201d she said. \u201cAfter being involved with cancer, I think everybody should have the best cancer treatment they can possibly have.\u201d<\/p>\n In its internal newsletter, UT Southwestern said the university\u00a0intends to eventually staff and operate the Clearfork hospital.<\/p>\n UT Southwestern already operates outpatient cancer services in Fort Worth at the UT Southwestern Monty and Tex Moncrief Medical Center and the Moncrief Cancer Institute.<\/p>\n The Radiation Oncology campus is set to open in 2028 and is expected to meet the growing demand for cancer care in the Fort Worth area, university officials wrote in the newsletter.<\/p>\n Scott Nishimura is a senior editor for local government accountability and a Fort Worth City Hall reporter at the Fort Worth Report.
