Detectives are on the hunt for a gunman who opened fire on a crowd last month in Brooklyn, injuring an innocent bystander in the process.<\/p>\n

According to police sources, it all unfolded at around 8:50 p.m. on April 14 outside of the Marlboro Houses in Gravesend, located at 2249 Stillwell Ave. Cops say the suspect got into an argument with a group of individuals hanging outside the NYCHA complex when he pulled out a gun and opened fire.<\/p>\n

During the chaos, a stray bullet grazed a 23-year-old woman in the left arm; police said she was not the intended target. The perpetrator then fled the scene. EMS treated the victim on site for the wound.<\/p>\n

Police said the gunman was last seen wearing a black sweater, white T-shirt, black shorts, and black sneakers. The NYPD released surveillance images of the suspect in hopes that he would be recognized.<\/p>\n

No arrests have been made, but the investigation remains ongoing.\n<\/p>\n

According to the latest police data through May 3<\/a>, felony assault in the 60th Precinct, where this crime occurred, is up nearly 23% year to date this year compared to the same period in 2025; 156 incidents were reported this year, up from 127 in 2025.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Total major crime, which includes murder, rape and robbery, in the precinct is also up 10% so far this year compared to the same period in 2025. \u00a0\n<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch announced last week that the NYPD recorded the fewest murders<\/a> in recorded history in the first four months of the year.
