However, we were safely able to get the young person to the Royal Children\u2019s Hospital,\u201d Hemsley said.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAlthough we are all trained to do this job, [it was a] very traumatic scene for all involved.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c[First responders] did a fantastic job \u2026 they provided the highest level of care to this young person on potentially one of the most traumatic days of their lives.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>A letter from St Aloysius principal Mary Farah was sent out to parents on Monday afternoon, confirming that a serious incident had occurred but saying that details were limited.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAt approximately 4pm today, we received reports that one of our year 7 students was involved in an accident at North Melbourne Train Station. At this stage, we have very few specific details regarding the circumstances or the student\u2019s current condition,\u201d the letter said.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEvents like this can be deeply unsettling for our young people. Please be mindful of your child\u2019s wellbeing this evening.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>A second email was sent later in the evening, directing families to mental health support services.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSome students witnessed this incident, and college staff arrived shortly after to support students, and the family of the student involved, who is currently recovering in hospital,\u201d the email said.<\/p>\n<p>The incident impacted train services across the network, with large crowds of commuters waiting at Southern Cross Station shortly before 6pm.
