{"id":788816,"date":"2026-05-11T13:33:17","date_gmt":"2026-05-11T13:33:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/788816\/"},"modified":"2026-05-11T13:33:17","modified_gmt":"2026-05-11T13:33:17","slug":"a-township-committee-approves-a-contract-for-renovations-at-merions-general-wayne-park","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/788816\/","title":{"rendered":"A township committee approves a contract for renovations at Merion&#8217;s General Wayne Park\u00a0"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>LOWER MERION \u2013 Residents in Merion could soon see renovations at General Wayne Park.<\/p>\n<p>The Lower Merion Finance Committee recommended that the commissioners award a $352,653 contract for General Wayne Park Playground Improvements to Jurich Inc.<\/p>\n<p>Adam Szumski, chief financial officer for Lower Merion, outlined some of the project\u2019s details during a finance committee meeting.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe improvements at General Wayne Park will include replacements of the existing equipment at the tot lot in the children\u2019s playground in advance of the installation of those new pieces of equipment. This contract award is for the site improvements to prepare the grounds. The work includes upgrades to the circulation path and drainage systems,\u201d Szumski said.<\/p>\n<p>General Wayne Park is an 18-acre site located at Revere Road and Maplewood Avenue in Merion Station.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe existing playground equipment at the tot lot and children\u2019s playground need replacement, along with repairs and improvements to the circulation path and drainage system. The scope of this project includes selective demolition; replacement and upgrade of the park entrance and walking path from Revere Road for improved accessibility; modification of the existing stormwater conveyance system for improved drainage conditions; preparation of the two playground areas; construction of playground edging and bench concrete pads; erosion and sediment control measures; and site restoration,\u201d according to a memoradum from the township\u2019s engeneer.<\/p>\n<p>The new playground equipment, which includes benches and an engineered wood-fiber playground surface, will be furnished and installed by a separate contractor under a separate award.<\/p>\n<p>Funds for the project are available through the township\u2019s capital projects fund\u2019s playground replacement program. The bid amount of $352,653 is $68,347 or 16% less than the construction estimate of $421,000.<\/p>\n<p>With the committee\u2019s recommendation, the Lower Merion Board of Commissioners will vote on the contract at its next meeting later this month.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"LOWER MERION \u2013 Residents in Merion could soon see renovations at General Wayne Park.
