Alexander Glovanyov, 47, from Petah Tikva, was killed on Sunday after a Hezbollah drone hit the tank carrier he was driving near the Israel-<a href=\"https:\/\/www.jpost.com\/tags\/israel-lebanon-border\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Lebanon border<\/a>, the IDF announced on Monday morning.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph-section article-body-paragraph\">Glovanyov served as a lead vehicle driver in the 6924th Transport Battalion under the Technological and Logistics Directorate.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph-section article-body-paragraph\">A preliminary investigation showed that Hezbollah terrorists had launched a fiber optic drone toward Israel. The drone had hit Glovanyov\u2019s tank carrier near an IDF outpost on the Israeli side of the border.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph-section article-body-paragraph\">The explosion seriously wounded Glovanyov. Soldiers from the outpost attempted to provide him with medical treatment, but were forced to declare him dead at the scene.<\/p>\n<p>According to Army Radio, the IDF had failed to identify the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jpost.com\/israel-news\/defense-news\/article-894837\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">drones<\/a>, and as such, Glovanyov received no advanced warning of the danger and was killed by one of the explosions.<\/p>\n<p>Further, Army Radio said that Glovanyov was the fourth IDF soldier to be killed during the ongoing <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jpost.com\/middle-east\/article-894217\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">ceasefire<\/a> with Hezbollah as a result of explosive drones.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph-section article-body-paragraph\">\u201cMy wife and I extend our heartfelt condolences to the family of the late 1st Sgt. (res.) Alexander Globnyov z\u201dl, who fell near the Lebanese border,\u201d Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said in a post to X\/Twitter on Sunday.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph-section article-body-paragraph\">\u201cAlexander z\u201dl, aged 47 at the time of his death, volunteered for reserve duty out of a deep commitment and profound sense of mission to defend the State of Israel.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph-section article-body-paragraph\">Former prime minister Naftali Bennet also offered his condolences to Glovanyov\u2019s family over his death in an early Sunday morning post to X.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph-section article-body-paragraph\">\u201cThe heart aches over the fall of 1stSgt. (res.) Alexander Glovanyov, 47, from Petah Tikva, was killed by a Hezbollah explosive drone strike near the Lebanese border,\u201d Bennett wrote. \u201cAt the age of 47, Alexander volunteered for reserve duty to serve the state and protect us all.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph-section article-body-paragraph\">Deputy Foreign Minister Sharren Haskel echoed the sentiment in her own post, extending her condolences to the family \u201cover the death of their beloved one, a driver in the 6924th Battalion of the Transportation Center, in a battle near the Lebanese border.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph-section article-body-paragraph\">Glovanyov was a \u201cman of the land who reported for reserve duty out of a sense of mission and profound dedication,\u201d Haskel added.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"First Sergeant (res.)
