Nicole Aloise\/Instagram<\/p>\n<p>New York City has the \u201cBan the Box\u201d law, also known as the Fair Chance Act, <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2014\/12\/04\/new-bill-would-stop-criminal-record-disclosure-on-job-applications\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">which prohibits employers <\/a>from asking about an applicant\u2019s criminal history or conducting background checks until a conditional job offer is made. <\/p>\n<p>That means employers can\u2019t include questions about criminal records on job applications or during initial interviews.<\/p>\n<p>But Donnelly said explicitly singling out criminals \u2014 not law abiding citizens \u2014 to apply for a job with a DA candidate whose mission is to enforce the law is beyond the pale.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis isn\u2019t just a campaign misstep\u2014it\u2019s a window into Nicole Aloise\u2019s dangerous worldview,\u201d Donnelly said. \u201cHiring criminals to help run her campaign? That\u2019s who she is. Nassau residents can\u2019t afford to hand the keys to the DA\u2019s Office over to someone who embraces that kind of reckless ideology.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Aloise didn\u2019t immediately return a phone message or email seeking comment.<\/p>\n<p>Donnelly touted her own prosecutorial record to make Nassau one of the <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2024\/08\/08\/us-news\/nassau-county-rated-safest-community-in-the-country-by-us-news-and-world-report\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">safest counties in <\/a>America, while fighting to repeal New York\u2019s cashless bail law.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf you want safety, accountability, and common sense in your District Attorney, I\u2019m proud to be the choice of Nassau neighbors who want to keep Nassau the safest community in the U.S.A,\u201d Donnelly said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Crime doesn\u2019t pay \u2014 so try politics instead.
