{"id":789714,"date":"2026-05-11T22:45:23","date_gmt":"2026-05-11T22:45:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/789714\/"},"modified":"2026-05-11T22:45:23","modified_gmt":"2026-05-11T22:45:23","slug":"harris-county-precinct-4-gearing-up-for-summer-sidewalk-projects","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/789714\/","title":{"rendered":"Harris County Precinct 4 gearing up for summer sidewalk projects"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\tJust as schools and students are getting ready for the academic year to end, Harris County Commissioner Lesley Briones\u2019 <a href=\"https:\/\/cp4.harriscountytx.gov\/sidewalks\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Sidewalks 4 Precinct 4<\/a> public safety initiative is preparing for its summer break phase.<\/p>\n<p>Established in 2024, Sidewalks 4 Precinct 4 aims to improve the county\u2019s walkability as well as the overall safety for its residents by constructing 75 miles of sidewalks in multiple phases throughout unincorporated Harris County, according to its website.<\/p>\n<p><strong>On the horizon<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The project\u2019s $16 million second phase began in 2025 and is expected to be completed by <a href=\"https:\/\/communityimpact.com\/houston\/cypress\/government\/2025\/12\/09\/harris-county-precinct-4-connects-cy-fair-katy-isds-with-new-sidewalks\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">fall 2026<\/a>, Briones said.<\/p>\n<p>Precinct 4 Deputy Press Secretary Debbie Strauss shared the list of summer break projects with Community Impact:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Completed projects or ready for final inspection: <\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Fry Road from FM 529 to Jazzy Cove<\/li>\n<li>West Little York from Westgreen Boulevard to Hemmenway Elementary<\/li>\n<li>Greenhouse Road from Morton Road to Kieth Harrow Boulevard<\/li>\n<li>Eldridge Parkway from Oak Bend Forest Drive to Rosewood Street<\/li>\n<li>Greenhouse Road from Plantation Cove Lane to Rebel Yell Drive<\/li>\n<li>Westpark Drive from Westheimer Place Drive to Forest Park Drive<\/li>\n<li>Mason Road from I-10 Frontage Road to Mason Creek<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Under construction with completion expected by July: <\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Eldridge Parkway South from Harris County Flood Control District Project D122-00-00 to Carruth Lane<\/li>\n<li>West Little York from Barker Cypress Road to Queenston Boulevard<\/li>\n<li>Westgreen Boulevard from Kingsland Boulevard to I-10 Frontage Road<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Projects in permitting with construction start expected in mid-May and completion in mid-July: <\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Saums Road from Westgreen Boulevard to Old Fry Road<\/li>\n<li>Barker Cypress Road from Groschke Road to The Goddard School of Houston<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>In 2025, <a href=\"https:\/\/communityimpact.com\/houston\/cypress\/government\/2025\/12\/09\/harris-county-precinct-4-connects-cy-fair-katy-isds-with-new-sidewalks\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Community Impact<\/a> reported that Harris County completed the first phase, which consisted of 50 miles of sidewalks at a cost of $20 million.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Also of note<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Briones also held a May 5 news conference to announce the start of construction of 4.25 miles of sidewalk along South Mason Road.<\/p>\n<p>The $2.54 million project will be primarily funded by Precinct 4 with contributions from Cornerstones Municipal Utility District and Memorial Municipal Utility District.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are coming together to get it done,&#8221; Briones said. &#8220;We heard you at the numerous town halls that we have held.
