Nick Kyrgios has endured many setbacks in his tennis career in the past three years.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Kyrgios returned to the ATP Tour at the Brisbane International<\/a> in January, after playing just one match in 27 months.<\/p>\n

However, the former Wimbledon<\/a> finalist has not been able to play regularly, with Kyrgios withdrawing from Wimbledon<\/a> and the entire grass court season.<\/p>\n

Kyrgios was gearing up to return for the Washington Open<\/a>, but he has now faced another setback.<\/p>\n

Kyrgios<\/a> has struggled with knee, foot and wrist injuries over the past three years, undergoing as many surgeries in that time.<\/p>\n

The Australian has been very honest about his future in the sport, with Kyrgios admitting he will retire in the near future<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Before that point, Kyrgios was set to play at the Washington Open, where he is a two-time singles and one-time doubles champion.<\/p>\n

The 30-year-old was supposed to play both events once again, with Kyrgios partnering alongside Gael Monfils<\/a> in doubles.<\/p>\n

However, after the draw was released for the Washington Open this year, Kyrgios only appeared in the doubles event and has now withdrawn from singles.<\/p>\n

Kyrgios and Monfils<\/a> have not been handed an easy first round draw in doubles either, coming up against third seeds Hugo Nys and Edouard Roger-Vasselin.<\/p>\n

This is a concerning sign for Kyrgios ahead of the US Open<\/a>, which he has entered in a bid to make his first Grand Slam appearance since his first round loss at the Australian Open<\/a> earlier this year.<\/p>\n

Kyrgios achieved his best result at the US Open in 2022, when he reached the quarterfinals.<\/p>\n
