They’ve since been adopted and have a new home – together.<\/p>\n
Just four days ago – they were living in a cage at the Anti-Cruelty Society after surviving as strays.<\/p>\n
“When I saw them, I was completely melted,” said Claire McKeveny, the dogs’ new owner.<\/p>\n
After McKeveny discovered the bonded pair on social media, she knew they would be the perfect addition to her family.<\/p>\n
“We were very pragmatic, we have two young children, and we didn\u2019t want to give these two a home that wouldn\u2019t be what they deserve, but it just felt right,” she stated.<\/p>\n
The feeling appears to be mutual.<\/p>\n
Bird and Dee still cozy up to each other; Bird loves to sleep right on top of her big brother.<\/p>\n

They are fully embracing their new space, which comes with plenty of pets, snuggles and treats from four adoring humans.<\/p>\n
“I knew what they had was special and for zero reason, under any circumstance, should they ever be broken apart,” said Evan Dunlap, the dogs’ other owner.<\/p>\n
Bird and Dee are believed to be about one year old, maybe younger.<\/p>\n
They\u2019ve lived a lot of life in a short time – and despite the struggle – have found a home.<\/p>\n
“You can tell they are really relieved,” McKeveny said.<\/p>\n
The family said over the weekend, Bird and Dee became Chicago celebrities. <\/p>\n
