PHOENIX (AZFamily)<\/b> \u2014 Phoenix Police released new video showing what led up to an officer-involved shooting involving a woman armed with a knife<\/a> late last month.<\/p>\n

The incident happened around 1 a.m. on April 27 near 40th Street and Indian School Road<\/a>. Officers responded to reports of a woman walking in the road holding a knife.<\/p>\n

When officers arrived, they found a woman matching the 911 caller\u2019s description. The caller told dispatchers he tried to ask the woman if she was OK, but she allegedly tried to stab his truck. <\/p>\n

She moved out of the road and continued walking on the sidewalk, still holding the knife. <\/p>\n

Officers told her to drop the knife, but she ignored them and kept walking. <\/p>\n

\u201cStop!\u201d one officer yells. \u201cWe want to help you. Please get on the ground,\u201d the other officer says.<\/p>\n

One of the officers fired his less-lethal weapon, but the woman did not stop. <\/p>\n

While still armed with the knife, the woman made her way toward a building with people inside. That\u2019s when the officer-involved shooting happened. <\/p>\n

She fell to the ground, but police say she continued to hold the knife. \u201cYou shot me!\u201d the woman yelled repeatedly. <\/p>\n

Officers approached her once it was safe and began first aid until fire crews arrived. She was taken to a hospital with a non-life-threatening injury.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

The officer involved in the shooting is assigned to the Mountain View Precinct<\/a> and has four years of service with the department.<\/p>\n

The Arizona Department of Public Safety<\/a> is still investigating, and the case will be reviewed by the Maricopa County Attorney\u2019s Office. An internal investigation is also underway by Phoenix PD.<\/p>\n
