Classic Stage Company<\/a>‘s 2026-2027 season lineup has been revealed, with a new musicals, a reading series celebrating neo-classics, and more in store from the renowned Off-Broadway theatre company.<\/p>\n

The season will kick off with a revival of\u00a0Clifford Odets<\/a>‘ Waiting for Lefty, running this coming\u00a0October and November.\u00a0Specific dates will be revealed soon.\u00a0Steven Pasquale<\/a> will direct the new staging of\u00a0Odets’ 1935 work, which will\u00a0feature original music and arrangements by Yeller Tooth.\u00a0Tala Ashe<\/a>, Raffi Barsoumian, Greg Hildreth<\/a>, and Conrad Ricamora<\/a> will star in the show, which follows the drivers of Depression-era New York\u00a0City as they gather to make a choice that will change their lives forever.<\/p>\n

The Off-Broadway company will also host the New York premiere of a musical version of\u00a0Ed Graczyk<\/a>‘s cult favorite play\u00a0Come Back to the 5 &\u00a0Dime Jimmy Dean, Jimmy Dean, with performances to run in February and March, 2027. The work centers on a group of women in a James Dean fanclub meeting to mark the 20th anniversary of the young film star’s untimely death. The play is best known for serving as the Broadway debut (and sole career performing credit)\u00a0for pop icon Cher, who also starred in the play’s film adaptation the same year as its Broadway run.<\/p>\n

The musical version\u00a0features a book and original concept by Ashley Robinson, music by Dan Gillespie Sells, lyrics by Shakina, and choreography by Nancy Renee Braun. Giovanna Sardelli is directing the production, produced by special arrangement with Broadway & Beyond Theatricals. The work make its world premiere at\u00a0California’s TheatreWorks Silicon Valley last year.<\/p>\n

Another New York premiere will arrive next summer, with\u00a0Wonder! A Woman Keeps a Secret\u00a0running\u00a0May-June 2027.\u00a0Adapted from the farce The Wonder: A Woman Keeps a Secret by Susanna Centlivre (1714),\u00a0Talene Monahon<\/a>‘s new\u00a0play\u00a0will feature a new, original song by K-Pop Demon Hunters Oscar-winner Mark Sonnenblick.<\/p>\n

“Rediscovery\u00a0Readings,” a series of readings of neo-classics of the late 20th century, will also be held throughout the season.\u00a0<\/p>\n
