Russia’s violence is sustained by billions in oil revenue funneled through a “shadow fleet” of tankers bypassing sanctions. As part of a San Diego delegation with Shield of Freedom, I met with congressional offices to advocate for cutting off the revenue funding these attacks.

Walking the halls of Congress with fellow San Diegans, including a mother and daughter who fled Ukraine after their home was destroyed, put a local face on this tragedy.

I am grateful to Reps. Mike Levin, D-San Juan Capistrano, and Scott Peters, D-San Diego, for co-sponsoring H.R.6856. I urge our other local representatives to join them. We must cut off the funding for this violence to ensure global security; it is the most direct path to a lasting peace.

— Kateryna Krupska, San Diego

Re: “Zelenskyy slams Russia’s ‘utter cynicism’ as strikes kill 22 in Ukraine before announced ceasefire” (May 5): This…

[5134
5229,1582,276,7281,1269,3549,7264,67,586,132,5230,68,2969
0":"post-791462","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-san-diego","8":"tag-america","9":"tag-ca","10":"tag-california","11":"tag-letters-to-the-editor","12":"tag-opinion","13":"tag-san-diego","14":"tag-sandiego","15":"tag-united-states","16":"tag-united-states-of-america","17":"tag-unitedstates","18":"tag-unitedstatesofamerica","19":"tag-us","20":"tag-usa
["GET
