What you need to watch and the surprising new predator!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The infamous Shark Week on Discovery started on Sunday but this year it has some competition, we\u2019ll explain that in a minute, but first here are our top shows of the week<\/p>\n<p>Starting the week off strong on Sunday, July 20 is \u201cDancing with Sharks.\u201d This is a competition show unlike any other. Hosted by Tom Bergeron, the former \u201cDancing with the Stars\u201d host, this show features five divers who are ready to compete with their finned partners. They have it all, from hammerheads to tiger sharks and nurse sharks, they each have their own signature move and at the end of the show one will be crowned the winner. But will all the divers make it that far?! You\u2019ll have to find out! \u201cDancing with Sharks\u201d premieres Sunday, July 20 at 8PM ET\/PT on Discovery.<\/p>\n<p>On Monday, July 21 Discovery will air a Shark Week first, \u201cGreat White Sex Battle.\u201d For the first time we will get to see male and female great white sharks compete in numerous challenges to determine if the males or females are the superior predator. All taking place in the waters off the coast of New Zealand, this is sure to be a fan favorite of Shark Week! Make sure to catch this experiment on Monday, July 21 at 8PM ET\/PT on Discovery.<\/p>\n<p>What happens if you\u2019re in a shark attack?! Everything you\u2019re going to need to know will be told in \u201cHow to Survive a Shark Attack.\u201d This follows shark attack survivor Paul de Gelder as he prepares to be attacked by a shark AGAIN. This time, under the supervision of experts, Paul makes a shark attack him in different scenarios, the sharks bite and tear off prosthetic limbs so we can learn life-saving techniques if we are ever face-to-face with the deadly predators. \u201cHow to Survive a Shark Attack\u201d premieres Tuesday, July 22 at 9PM ET\/PT on Discovery.<\/p>\n<p>Next up is \u201cExpedition Unknown: Shark Files,\u201d which follows adventurer Josh Gates trying to solve some of the strangest and most disturbing shark mysteries of all-time. Audiences get to see the real-life bloody inspiration behind the legendary movie, \u201cJaws\u201d along with the grotesque case in which a Tiger Shark regurgitated a human arm while living in captivity. Sounds wild, right?! Catch \u201cExpedition Unknown: Shark Files\u201d on Wednesday, July 23 at 8PM ET\/PT on Discovery.<\/p>\n<p>If you are a \u201cJaws\u201d fan, this one\u2019s for you! Marine biologist Tom \u201cBlowfish\u201d Hird and predator ecologist Michelle Jewell dive with Great Whites while reexamining the Stephen Spielberg classic to debunk myths and separate fact from fiction after the movie scared everyone, vowing to never step foot in the ocean again. The biggest question they answer, does skinny dipping really attract great white sharks? A question we all need the answer will be revealed when \u201cSurviving Jaws\u201d premieres Thursday, July 24 at 8PM ET\/PT on Discovery.<\/p>\n<p>Concluding the week is \u201cFlorida\u2019s Death Beach.\u201d Florida, specifically Smyrna Beach, is known as \u201cThe Shark Capital of the World,\u201d accounting for 30% of all shark attacks. Hosted by Forrest Galante, he investigates why this spring break, party beach is a main crime scene for these attacks, and he hopes to get answers before there\u2019s more blood in the water. \u201cFlorida\u2019s Death Beach\u201d premieres Friday, July 25 at 8PM ET\/PT on Discovery.<\/p>\n<p>And as we mentioned, there\u2019s a new predator Discovery is going to have to content with during Shark Week. Netflix is trying <\/p>\n<p>its hand, erm, fin, at Shark Week. While everyone associates Shark Week with Discovery, Netflix is releasing Shark-themed shows throughout the week. Here are our top two Netflix shows to reel us into their Shark Week shows.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cShark Whisperer,\u201d from the Academy Award winning director of \u201cMy Octopus Teacher,\u201d follows Ocean Ramsey, best known for her viral videos of swimming freely with sharks, while she\u2019s trying to decode sharklanguage up close and personal. This special shows the tensions between advocacy and ethics when it comes to sharks while Ocean tries to connect with these deadly predators on an unprecedented level. \u201cShark Whisperer\u201d is currently available to stream on Netflix.<\/p>\n<p>Netflix has a new competition show that may get you excited! \u201cAll the Sharks\u201d follows four different teams comprised of the most passionate shark experts as they set off on a journey to find and photograph the most sharks. Racing against time and each other these teams find themselves in the craziest shark habitats in the Caribbean seas.
