{"id":792028,"date":"2026-05-12T22:24:18","date_gmt":"2026-05-12T22:24:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/792028\/"},"modified":"2026-05-12T22:24:18","modified_gmt":"2026-05-12T22:24:18","slug":"jon-rahm-addresses-whether-he-regrets-leaving-pga-tour-for-liv-golf-never-an-argument-in-my-mind","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/792028\/","title":{"rendered":"Jon Rahm addresses whether he regrets leaving PGA Tour for LIV Golf: &#8216;Never an argument in my mind&#8217;"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"speakable\">When Jon Rahm left the <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/category\/sports\/golf\/pga-tour\">PGA Tour<\/a> for LIV Golf in late 2023, it felt like a seismic shift in the battle between the two tours.<\/p>\n<p class=\"speakable\">Rahm, already a two-time major winner, including the 2023 Masters earlier that year, joined Bryson DeChambeau and gave LIV arguably two of the best four players in the world. <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/sports\/liv-golf-stars-commit-staying-put-after-brooks-koepkas-departure-return-pga-tour\">Along with Brooks Koepka, known<\/a> for his prowess in the biggest tournaments, Dustin Johnson, and legendary players like Phil Mickelson and Sergio Garcia.<\/p>\n<p>While many defections could be hand waved away, Rahm\u2019s departure felt like a major blow and the type of move that could lead to a merger and reunification of the game. Barroso\/Europa Press via Getty Images)<\/p>\n<p>LIV is now facing a <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/sports\/trump-weighs-liv-golf-pga-tour-saudis-pull-funding-startup-league\">significant funding crisis<\/a>, as well as questions about the tour\u2019s ability to continue operating after the 2026 season. The PGA Tour, which was caught off guard by LIV\u2019s foundation and seemed immediately on the back foot, suddenly has the upper hand.<\/p>\n<p><a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/sports\/liv-golf-ending-saudi-pif-cutting-funding-report-rumor\"><strong>LIV GOLF&#8217;S END MAY BE IMMINENT AS REPORT SIGNALS SAUDI ARABIA IS PREPARING TO CUT OFF FUNDING<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0What happens next is anyone\u2019s guess; <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/outkick-sports\/another-liv-golfer-remains-committed-staying-put-full-faith-future-liv\">several players have committed to<\/a> staying with LIV, or at least, not returning to the PGA Tour. Others are up in the air, like Bryson DeChambeau, whose contract expires after this season. Then there\u2019s Rahm. One of the most competitive golfers in the world, who immediately made arrangements with the DP World Tour to allow him to play in future tournaments, should he need to.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Ahead of this week\u2019s PGA Championship at Aronimink Golf Club outside Philadelphia, Rahm was, of course, asked about his decision to leave and whether he now regrets it, considering the challenges LIV faces.\u00a0<a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.golfdigest.com\/story\/pgachampionship2026-jon-rahm-liv-golf-pga-tour-deal-tipping-point-world-ranking\">Golf Digest\u2019s Shane Ryan<\/a> brought up his decision in 2023 and the thought that it might be the catalyst to reunify the game.<\/p>\n<p> <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/jon-rahm-liv-golf-spain.jpeg\" alt=\"jon rahm swinging an iron\" width=\"1200\" height=\"675\"\/> <\/p>\n<p>Jon Rahm of Legion XIII rplays his shot from the 8th tee during day four of LIV Golf Mexico City at Club de Golf Chapultepec on April 19, 2026 in Mexico City. That was never an argument in my mind,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;When asked if that was the case for people to come together, that would be great. I never made a decision based on that.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>As to whether he regrets leaving, Rahm answered by saying he never approaches decisions that way.<\/p>\n<p><a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/link.podtrac.com\/dmwdd_article\"><strong>ZERO BS. DOWNLOAD NOW!<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Now, I would also say I&#8217;ve made a lot of decisions in my life, and I&#8217;ve never gone back thinking, \u2018Oh, had I known this again, I would do X and Y different,\u2019&#8221; he explained. &#8220;I could do that about 15 different golf shots on the golf course every single day. If I lived my life like that as a golfer, I would be a very pessimistic person \u2026 just to speculate on what could have done, what could have been different doesn&#8217;t really make much sense.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Rahm is an intelligent, insightful person with a tremendous impact on the game. It\u2019s possible, if not likely, that he did hope his move to LIV would be, if not decisive, important in reunifying the game. And it likely was, as discussions between LIV\u2019s backers and the PGA seemed to increase after his move. Particularly because he remains in the prime of his career at just 31 years old.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Whatever the outcome, golf fans want to see Rahm compete against the best.
