{"id":792356,"date":"2026-05-13T01:46:29","date_gmt":"2026-05-13T01:46:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/792356\/"},"modified":"2026-05-13T01:46:29","modified_gmt":"2026-05-13T01:46:29","slug":"egyptian-exhibition-will-bring-a-staggering-amount-of-gold-to-fort-worths-kimbell","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/792356\/","title":{"rendered":"Egyptian exhibition will bring a &#8216;staggering&#8217; amount of gold to Fort Worth\u2019s Kimbell"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Three-thousand years of Egyptian history, including some recently unearthed artifacts, will make their way to Fort Worth next year. <\/p>\n<p>Granite statues, gold jewelry, funerary masks and sarcophagi are among the objects, which will be on display in an exhibition titled \u201cTreasures of the Pharaohs\u201d that will open at the Kimbell Art Museum in March.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen we say dazzling, it&#8217;s not an [over]statement,\u201d Jennifer Casler Price, curator of Asian, African and Ancient American Art at the Kimbell Museum said. \u201cThe amount of gold that is in this one exhibition throughout the 130 works that are in the exhibition \u2014 it is staggering.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The exhibition provides insight into the daily lives of pharaohs and their inner circles as well as a closer look at the workers who kept their empires functioning. <\/p>\n<p>Showstopping items include Queen Ahhotep\u2019s golden sarcophagus, and objects recently discovered in a worker\u2019s community in the \u201cGolden City\u201d within Egypt\u2019s Valley of the Kings. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cThese truly are some of the greatest works of ancient Egyptian art that you&#8217;ll be able to see, and it&#8217;s a wonderful range of material,\u201d Casler Price said. \u201cIt&#8217;s a feast for the eyes.\u201d Interest in ancient Egypt, like the objects themselves, remains timeless.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen you think about fashion, jewelry and furniture, it&#8217;s still a source of fascination and inspiration to the modern contemporary world.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The artifacts are on loan from two museums in Egypt, the Luxor Museum and the Egyptian Museum in Cairo. <\/p>\n<p>The exhibition is currently on view in Rome, and will head to the Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco in August. Fort Worth will be the exhibition\u2019s second and final stop in North America. <\/p>\n<p>The show will open at the Kimbell March 14 and will run through September 19 next year.<\/p>\n<p>Got a tip?
