DALLAS, Texas (KWTX) \u2014 Two men are facing charges after a shooting outside a Dallas gas station left a pregnant woman injured and her unborn child dead, according to police records.<\/p>\n
Keyner Ariel Calero Jiron, 20, and Yeremy Alexander Zapata Aleman, 17, were arrested May 3 following the early morning shooting on the 4800 block of South Buckner Boulevard.<\/p>\n
Both suspects face deportation, as ICE said they did not legally enter the country, FOX 4 reported.<\/p>\n
Police said the incident began in the early morning hours of May 3 at a 7-Eleven gas station when Calero Jiron pushed another man as he walked out of the store. The man got into his vehicle and pulled up next to Calero Jiron, rolled down his window and cursed at him, according to arrest records.<\/p>\n
As the vehicle left the parking lot, someone pointed a gun at the car, police said. A passenger in the back seat saw a green laser inside the vehicle before hearing gunshots.<\/p>\n
Natalie Rossainz, 22 weeks pregnant, was sitting in the front passenger seat when she was shot. She suffered gunshot wounds to both thighs, arrest records show. The bullet passed through her pelvis and struck her unborn child.<\/p>\n
Rossainz was taken to Baylor Hospital, where doctors discovered her baby had also been injured. She underwent an emergency cesarean section where the baby did not survive, FOX 4 reported.<\/p>\n
Suspects pursued victims<\/p>\n
The victims drove northbound on Buckner Boulevard as Calero Jiron and Zapata Aleman followed in a silver Chevrolet SUV, according to arrest records. Surveillance footage shows gunshots being fired at the victims\u2019 vehicle as both cars traveled on Buckner Boulevard, police said.<\/p>\n
Gunfire also struck another vehicle driven by a separate motorist traveling southbound on Buckner Boulevard. That driver was not injured.<\/p>\n
Officers responded to the scene after the victims flagged down police at a nearby location. Security camera footage from the gas station showed the confrontation between Calero Jiron and the driver before the shooting, arrest records state.<\/p>\n
Video also showed a person wearing a dark hoodie and light-colored pants exit the passenger side of the silver Chevrolet SUV and appear to point a gun at the victims\u2019 vehicle, according to police.<\/p>\n
Chase ends in arrest<\/p>\n
Officers later spotted the suspect vehicle around 6:20 a.m. and attempted a traffic stop, but the driver sped away, police said. The chase covered approximately 3.9 miles before officers lost sight of the vehicle near the intersection of Peak Street and Worth Street.<\/p>\n
Around 6:50 a.m., officers located the silver 2021 Chevrolet Equinox again on Chariot Drive. The vehicle crashed over a curb and came to a stop in the 5000 block of South Buckner Boulevard, where both men were taken into custody.<\/p>\n
Police recovered a handgun from Calero Jiron\u2019s pant leg and a small bag of cocaine from his pocket, arrest records show. A search of the vehicle later turned up a pill containing MDMA in the front passenger door area where Zapata Aleman had been sitting, according to police.<\/p>\n
According to FOX 4, Calero Jiron faces nine charges including capital murder, five counts of aggravated assault with a firearm, evading arrest with a vehicle, cocaine possession and unlawful carrying of a weapon. Zapata Aleman faces seven charges including capital murder, five counts of aggravated assault with a firearm and drug possession, FOX 4 reported.<\/p>\n
