Of course, he\u2019s back.<\/p>\n<p>The 19-year-old catcher hit his sixth home run on Tuesday in Double-A San Antonio\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.milb.com\/gameday\/wind-surge-vs-missions\/2026\/05\/12\/817230\/final\/box\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">8-3 win<\/a> over visiting Wichita.<\/p>\n<p>The home run was Salas\u2019 only hit in five at-bats and it drove in two runs, pushing his RBI total to 20 through 29 games.<\/p>\n<p>The home run was also Salas\u2019 sixth since hitting his first home run on April 24. He missed all but 10 games last year with a back injury and didn\u2019t get back into game action until spring training.<\/p>\n<p>Salas is hitting .314\/.388\/.559 to start his third trip through the Texas League. Because he struggled at high Single-A Fort Wayne as one of the youngest players in the Midwest League in 2024 (.599 OPS) and missed most of last year, Salas dropped out of the top-100 at the start of the year for the first time since signing for $5.6 million as the top prospect in the 2023 international class.<\/p>\n<p>After a strong start to a healthy season, Salas is up to No. 94 in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mlb.com\/milb\/prospects\/top100\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">MLB.com\u2019s top-100<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>First baseman<strong> Romeo Sanabria<\/strong> (.649 OPS) went 2-for-3 with his third homer, a double and three RBIs.<\/p>\n<p>Third baseman <strong>Luis Verdugo<\/strong> (.682 OPS) and center fielder <strong>Braedon Karpathios<\/strong> (.679 OPS) both hit their second homers of the season.<\/p>\n<p>Right-hander <strong>Miguel Mendez<\/strong> (3.24 ERA) returned from a neck strain with two strikeouts over two scoreless innings in the start.<\/p>\n<p>Mendez is ranked No. 3 among Padres prospects, behind left-hander <strong>Kruz Schoolcraft<\/strong> and Salas.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Tuesday\u2019s scoreboard<\/p>\n<p><strong>TRIPLE-A EL PASO (19-21)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.milb.com\/gameday\/chihuahuas-vs-bees\/2026\/05\/12\/814933\/final\/box\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Salt Lake 11, Chihuahuas 4:<\/a> LHP<strong> Marco Gonzales<\/strong> (1-3, 10.64 ERA) allowed seven runs in 1\u2153 innings in the start. DH <strong>Jose Miranda<\/strong> (.771 OPS) hit his fifth homer. 1B<strong> Nick Solak<\/strong> (.906 OPS) went 2-for-3 with his second homer.
