CHICAGO (WLS) — The Chicago Fire said their new stadium at The 78 will be named McDonald’s Park.<\/p>\n

The team made the announcement on Wednesday on social media.<\/p>\n

“We’re excited to announce @mcdonalds as the official naming rights partner of our new stadium!” the post said.<\/p>\n

The Chicago Fire said their new stadium at The 78 will be named McDonald’s Park.<\/p>\n

The major development officially began construction in March<\/a> along the Chicago River near Roosevelt Road.<\/p>\n

“Two Chicago icons coming together,” a spokesperson for McDonald’s said on social media.<\/p>\n

The $750 million privately funded stadium is the first new major stadium development in the city in decades.<\/p>\n

It’s the first time McDonald’s<\/a> has a naming rights partnership with a major professional sports stadium in the U.S.<\/p>\n

“As we take the next step on our journey to build a world class Club, our commitment to Chicago is at the center of everything we do,” said Joe Mansueto, Chicago Fire FC Owner and Chairman. “That’s why McDonald’s is the perfect partner – an iconic global brand with deep Chicago roots and shared values in supporting our community. McDonald’s Park will be the stadium that Chicago deserves.”<\/p>\n

The team had their home in Bridgeview, before moving to Soldier Field in 2019.<\/p>\n

The new stadium is expected to seat over 22,000 people and open by 2028, ahead of the MLS season.<\/p>\n
