The Emmy-winner and comedian will be back to host the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbclosangeles.com\/tag\/academy-awards\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">99th Academy Awards<\/a> in 2027, film academy leaders said Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p>O\u2019Brien hosted the last two Oscar ceremonies to positive reviews. Earlier this year, in his\u00a0opening monologue, he said he was \u201chonored to be the last human host of the Academy Awards \u2026 Next year it\u2019s going to be a Waymo in a tux.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He\u2019ll be surrounded by a familiar team, as well, with the return of\u00a0Raj Kapoor\u00a0and Katy Mullan as the show\u2019s executive producers.<\/p>\n<p>Film academy leaders Bill Kramer and Lynette Howell Taylor said in a joint statement, \u201cThey are an incredible team and have produced such captivating, entertaining and heartfelt shows over the last two years,\u201d adding that they\u2019re looking forward to \u201cConan superbly leading the celebration with his brilliance and humor.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>After several years of ratings increases, including a post-pandemic high of\u00a019.7 million viewers\u00a0who tuned in for O\u2019Brien\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbclosangeles.com\/entertainment\/entertainment-news\/conan-obrien-timothee-chalamet-oscars-monologue\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">inaugural year as host<\/a>, when \u201cAnora\u201d swept the awards, the show took a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbclosangeles.com\/entertainment\/entertainment-news\/oscar-ratings-fall-2026\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">dip in viewership<\/a>\u00a0this year, when \u201cOne Battle After Another\u201d was crowned best picture. Engagement for the Oscars rose by other metrics, though. Social media engagement during the broadcast went up by over 42% this year.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cConan has created remarkable energy around \u2018The Oscars,\u2019\u201d Craig Erwich, the president of Disney\u2019s Television Group, said in a statement. \u201cHis singular comedic voice makes Hollywood\u2019s biggest night one of the most entertaining celebrations of the year. We\u2019re proud to welcome him back and look forward to what he and the producing team deliver next.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The 99th Oscars will be broadcast live on ABC from the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles on Sunday, March 14, 2027. It will be the penultimate ceremony at the Hollywood location and on broadcast television. In 2029, the show\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbclosangeles.com\/entertainment\/entertainment-news\/oscars-youtube-2029-abc-deal-ends\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">moves to YouTube<\/a>, and downtown Los Angeles for its 101st awards.<\/p>\n<p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tThe 2026 Academy Awards brought the house down with several shocking moments and many firsts.
