UTICA, N.Y. — The New York State Canal System is opening for the season, offering a wide range of events along New York\u2019s historic waterways.<\/p>\n

The Erie Canalway National Heritage Corridor announced that the canal system will open for navigation at 8 a.m. on May 15, with activities planned from Buffalo to Albany.<\/p>\n

Throughout the season, visitors can take part in festivals, community celebrations, recreational activities, canalside concerts and guided tours.<\/p>\n

The Erie Canalway National Heritage Corridor works to preserve canal heritage, promote the region as a tourism destination and support communities along more than 500 miles of waterway.<\/p>\n
