Two days after a Houston Methodist Hospital employee was stabbed in a Texas Medical Center parking garage, police continued searching for a man they believe is connected to the stabbing while officials are looking at increasing surveillance in the area.<\/p>\n

Police responded around 6:40 a.m. Monday to a victim with stab wounds by an unknown suspect, according to a spokesperson from the Houston Police Department.<\/p>\n

The victim was then taken to Houston Methodist Hospital, where she was released on Monday and “let everyone know that she is doing well and remains in good spirits,” a hospital spokesperson said.<\/p>\n

“Our leadership team quickly coordinated with TMC Police to identify some immediate next steps to improve safety measures, including enhanced coordination between local authorities to improve how emergency calls are handled, ensuring faster, clearer responses; improved garage signage to clearly indicate how and where to call for assistance; and increased police presence on METRO,” a spokesperson for Houston Methodist said in a statement to Houston Public Media.<\/p>\n

On Tuesday, police shared what appear to be surveillance photos of a purported suspect, described as a Black man. The photos depict him wearing a Houston Rockets hoodie.<\/p>\n

In a statement, a spokesperson for the Metropolitan Transit Authority of Harris County (METRO) said the organization had provided surveillance footage to assist in the investigation.<\/p>\n

“The footage was reviewed and helped investigators identify the suspect traveling through our system,” METRO spokesperson Anna Carpenter said in a statement. “While no crime occurred on the METRO system, this case highlights the strength of the technology, camera coverage and police presence we now have in place. If the suspect believed traveling through the system would help avoid identification, it was ultimately METRO’s surveillance technology that helped investigators track his movements.”<\/p>\n

The Texas Medical Center, which is billed as the world\u2019s largest medical complex, did not immediately return a request for comment Wednesday.<\/p>\n

The Houston Police Department’s major assaults division is investigating the incident. As of Wednesday morning, police were still searching for the man suspected of stabbing the hospital employee.<\/p>\n
