The agreements allow ICE to authorize local authorities to perform certain types of immigration enforcement in local jails, including allowing officers to question inmates about their immigration status and serve administrative warrants.<\/p>\n<p original-article-post=\"\" origination_station=\"KDFW\" data-v-ec26887a=\"\" data-v-94395e58=\"\">What they&#8217;re saying:<\/p>\n<p data-v-94395e58=\"\">Paxton reportedly sent a letter to Dallas Sheriff Marian Brown demanding that she seek a formal agreement with ICE.<\/p>\n<p data-v-94395e58=\"\">He said Sheriff Brown has publicly declared that &#8220;no additional efforts&#8221; would be put toward such an agreement.<\/p>\n<p data-v-94395e58=\"\">&#8220;I will not allow the people of Dallas County to suffer because the Sheriff refuses to work with ICE to keep violent illegals off our streets,&#8221; Paxton said in a statement. &#8220;Texas law requires that sheriffs seek a formal agreement with ICE to help stop illegal immigration. My office will ensure that the Dallas County Sheriff complies with the law and that ICE is assisted to the fullest extent possible under the law.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p original-article-post=\"\" origination_station=\"KDFW\" data-v-ec26887a=\"\" data-v-94395e58=\"\">The other side:<\/p>\n<p data-v-94395e58=\"\">The Dallas County Sheriff\u2019s Office has not yet responded to FOX 4\u2019s request for a comment regarding the letter.<\/p>\n<p> Tarrant County ICE Agreement <\/p>\n<p original-article-post=\"\" origination_station=\"KDFW\" data-v-ec26887a=\"\" data-v-94395e58=\"\">Local perspective:<\/p>\n<p data-v-94395e58=\"\">Tarrant County Commissioners approved a partnership between the county\u2019s sheriff\u2019s department and ICE in February, despite high public opposition and residents who voiced concerns over eroded community trust and the potential unconstitutionality of the state mandate.<\/p>\n<p data-v-94395e58=\"\">The Tarrant County Sheriff\u2019s Office will receive a $140,000 grant to support expenses related to the sheriff\u2019s activities with inmates who have an illegal immigration status.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"insert-article-type related-headline\" data-v-3f8abc4c=\"\">\n    Related\n  <\/p>\n<p>  <a href=\"https:\/\/fox4news.com\/news\/tarrant-county-commissioners-approve-ice-partnership\" target=\"_blank\" data-v-3f8abc4c=\"\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Tarrant County Commissioners approve ICE partnership<\/a> <\/p>\n<p data-v-3f8abc4c=\"\">Leaders in Tarrant County approved a plan to create a partnership with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement. It\u2019s in response to a new state law that requires county sheriff\u2019s departments partner with ICE.<\/p>\n<p data-v-94395e58=\"\">Commissioners in support of the measure said the money should be welcomed, considering the partnership is a state mandate.<\/p>\n<p data-v-94395e58=\"\">&#8220;Some of you will say, \u2018I hate ICE. I\u2019m against ICE or whatever.\u2019 And you have that right to do that.
