\u201880s Icon Martha Plimpton<\/strong> shared a bold statement following the cancellation of The Late Show With Stephen Colbert.<\/a> The Hollywood star made a plea to her colleagues about fear and speaking up.<\/p>\n

Taking to Instagram, Plimpton shared a video urging fellow \u201cartists\u201d to use their voices. The actress fully understands why fear is keeping some people quiet.<\/p>\n

However, after everything that is happening with Rosie O\u2019Donnell<\/strong><\/a>and Stephen Colbert<\/strong> for speaking out against the current administration, Plimpton feels it\u2019s time for bravery, not silence.<\/p>\n

\u201cI want to acknowledge a thing that I’ve noticed, which is a certain amount of fear from people in my line of work to speak out or to offer their opinion, or even to acknowledge reality,\u201d she expressed.<\/p>\n

The actress highlighted Colbert and O\u2019Donnell in her message and addressed what is happening to other artists, especially queer and trans artists.<\/p>\n

\u201cI just want to say it’s really important for those of us who do this for a living and you know, many of you think we’re like all multi millionaires. We’re not, trust me, believe me, I’m not,\u201d the actress stated.<\/p>\n

Fear was once again mentioned by Plimpton, as she shared that the worst that can happen is already happening to people in show business who speak out. Then she further encouraged people to speak up and squash the fear.<\/p>\n

Plimpton explained that people in show business tell stories, but they also have a voice outside of the characters they play, and it\u2019s time to use it. She even gave the perfect example, as the tone of her message changed to be blunt and direct.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe also have a voice that’s not our TV voice, and those of us who are nervous about it, I think. Well, I just want to. I’m just going to say, get over it. Because this is your time to shine, baby. This is your time. Take a page out of Julia Louis Dreyfu<\/strong>s’ playbook and be brave,\u201d Plimpton ended her Instagram message.<\/a><\/p>\n

The comments section of the Instagram post was filled with fans applauding The Mosquito Coast starlet.<\/p>\n

\u201c\u2764\ufe0f thank you for using your voice to speak your truth in these difficult and anxious times. \ud83d\ude4c,\u201d shared a fan. Another one expressed, \u201cYes yes. More voices. More comrades. More allies. More power. When we all speak up, we make the change because fear starts to dissipate. Thank you. \ud83d\udc4f.\u201d<\/p>\n

A different fan stated, \u201c\ud83d\udc95Beautiful words, Brave soul. Thank you & love you.\u201d One fan insisted, \u201cThank you. The silence has been deafening, while a different one said, \u201cYes!!!\ud83d\ude4c\ud83d\udcaf We all need to be speaking out non stop 24\/7.\u201d<\/p>\n

Plimpton\u2019s fans also commented \u201cbravo\u201d multiple times. Several fans left clapping and applauding emojis, as well as heart emojis.<\/p>\n

O\u2019Donnell popped in to say, \u201cbeautiful martha,\u201d while designer Isaac Mizrahi<\/strong>, wrote, \u201cI LOVE YOU \u2764\ufe0f.\u201d Plimpton\u2019s message also earned support from famous faces like Tatum O’Neal,<\/strong>Pamela Adlon<\/strong>, and Debra Messing<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
