The Mets can\u2019t catch a break.<\/p>\n

Francisco Alvarez was placed on the 10-day injured list with a right meniscus tear a day after leaving Tuesday\u2019s 10-2 win over the Tigers in the sixth inning following an uncomfortable swing<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Manager Carlos Mendoza said before Wednesday\u2019s game that \u2014 \u201chopefully \u2014 Alvarez will return in 6-8 weeks, but cautioned there is no exact timeline for his return yet.<\/p>\n

\u201cOnce they go in there, we\u2019ll have a better understanding of what we\u2019re dealing with,\u201d Mendoza said. \u201cAll we know is we have to wait until they go in there and find what we got.\u201d<\/p>\n

Alvarez\u2019s addition to the IL means the team is now without four starters, with Francisco Lindor, Luis Robert Jr. and Jorge Polanco already on the shelf.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

Luis Torrens, who replaced Alvarez on Tuesday, was slated to be behind the plate again on Wednesday night.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"The Mets can\u2019t catch a break.
