{"id":794699,"date":"2026-05-14T01:16:13","date_gmt":"2026-05-14T01:16:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/794699\/"},"modified":"2026-05-14T01:16:13","modified_gmt":"2026-05-14T01:16:13","slug":"the-broad-museum-places-final-steel-beam-on-expansion-daily-news","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/794699\/","title":{"rendered":"The Broad Museum places final steel beam on expansion \u2013 Daily News"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Broad marked a major construction milestone with a topping-out ceremony celebrating the placement of the final steel beam for the museum\u2019s expansion project in downtown Los Angeles.<\/p>\n<p>Civic leaders, museum officials and construction partners gathered at the museum Wednesday morning for a ceremonial beam signing before the beam was lifted into place by crane, completing the building\u2019s steel framework.<\/p>\n<p>Speakers included Los Angeles City Councilmember Ysabel Jurado, Edythe L. Broad, the museum\u2019s co-founder, and Joanne Heyler, the museum\u2019s founding director and president.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe expansion will create entirely new encounters with works that challenge and move us, placing fresh lenses on our growing collection,\u201d Heyler said. \u201cWe are building this new space to extend our deep commitment to reaching a wide audience and creating an institution designed to inspire in inclusive, generative ways.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The expansion is scheduled to open in 2028 ahead of the Los Angeles Olympic and Paralympic Games.
