The Season 14 finale of Chicago Fire<\/a> delivered the heat, leaving many Chihards grappling to know what will happen to several Firehouse 51 fan favorites.<\/p>\n

Between the blood-pumping rescues and high-stakes calls, the Firehouse 51 firefighters are navigating an era of unprecedented change. Lt. Kelly Severide (Taylor Kinney<\/a>) is choosing between two enticing promotions: become the next Captain of Firehouse 51 or assume the position of Chief of the Office of Fire Investigation (OFI). Stella Kidd (Miranda Rae Mayo<\/a>) has encouraged her husband to choose what’s best for him, but it’s not a simple decision as Severide finds himself navigating new territory both in and out of the station. Just as several Firehouse 51 fan favorites processed life-changing milestones, they were called to a blazing inferno that ultimately threatened to put all of their lives at risk.<\/p>\n

Herrmann and Cindy celebrated a surprise wedding<\/p>\n

After a tragic season in which Herrmann (David Eigenberg<\/a>) and his wife, Cindy<\/a>, navigated their home burning down, the couple has been stressed while picking up the pieces. Amid the chaos, Herrmann told Cindy that he wanted to do something to show how much he cares about her and the life they’ve built: a vow renewal. Cindy tearfully accepted, and the couple got to work on planning a last-minute celebration at Molly’s for the special occasion.<\/p>\n

The vow renewal provided a sweet moment for Chihards. Eagle-eyed fans may have noticed a photo homage to 51’s former Chief Wallace Boden<\/a> (Eamonn Walker<\/a>), as well as a heartfelt nod to Violet’s late ex-boyfriend, Evan Hawkins (Jimmy Nicholas)<\/a>. The vow renewal also served as a sweet reunion among the firefighters and some friends very close to Firehouse 51.<\/p>\n

Herrmann was also able to celebrate Mouch’s (Christian Stolte)<\/a> book deal after he signed with a publisher to release his romance manuscript from nine years prior, Sheets on Fire. In other the news, Lizzy Novak<\/a> (Jocelyn Hudon<\/a>) decided the vow renewal was the perfect time to let Sal Vasquez<\/a> (Brandon Larracuente<\/a>) know she was ready to progress their flirtation into something more serious.<\/p>\n

51’s former Chief Dom Pascal and Stellaride’s foster son, Isaiah, returned<\/p>\n

After catching wind of Severide’s hesitance toward becoming 51’s next Captain, the station’s former Chief paid a little visit to the Windy City to set the record straight. Severide was shocked to find 51’s former Chief Dom Pascal (Dermot Mulroney<\/a>) at CFD’s headquarters, learning that Pascal had returned to remind Severide that he’d tapped him as the next Chief of Firehouse 51. Pascal had passed the baton to him for a reason and thinks he’d be happiest as a Captain. Later, Pascal attended Herrmann and Cindy’s vow renewal, connecting with his many friends at his former post at 51.<\/p>\n

Pascal wasn’t the only one back in the Windy City: Stellaride’s foster son, Isaiah (Hero Hunter)<\/a>, made a surprise “last-minute trip to Chicago,\u201d much to his foster parents’ delight. Stella and Severide were a tad confused by the pop-in, later learning that Isaiah had run away from his new home in Cleveland<\/a> where his mom is being treated. Isaiah shared that he was happier in Chicago, giving Stella and Severide pause.<\/p>\n

Stella and Severide promised they’d take Isaiah back to Cleveland to discuss the matter further. In the meantime, Isaiah was happy to reunite with his foster parents, connecting with Severide over his two career options. Isaiah pointed out that Severide would be in less grave danger as OFI Chief, giving Severide plenty to think about.<\/p>\n

Severide’s inner turmoil was interrupted by tragedy<\/p>\n

So what would Severide choose: OFI Chief or Firehouse 51 Captain? After three days of pondering the decision, Severide revealed that he’d officially made up his mind about the promotion. Just then, a call came in, preventing him from telling anyone his verdict. As the firefighters fled to the scene of a blazing inferno, they were forced to evacuate from the high-stakes scene after the flames escalated.<\/p>\n

Chief Pascal commanded the firefighters to get out of the building as soon as possible, but time wasn’t on their side. Just as they scaled a ladder to descend from the pandemonium, an explosion consumed the entire squad of Firehouse 51 responders.\u00a0<\/p>\n

So much is at stake, but Chihards are forced to wait for Season 15 of Chicago Fire<\/a> to see how these heroes rise above the latest disaster.<\/p>\n
