JACKSONVILLE, Fla. \u2014 The portion of Jacksonville\u2019s waterfront by the Jacksonville Center for the Performing Arts has been transformed into a park that celebrates the city\u2019s musical heritage.<\/p>\n
With the snipping of shiny, oversized scissors, Jacksonville\u2019s Music Heritage Garden opened Wednesday morning.<\/p>\n
>>> STREAM ACTION NEWS JAX LIVE <<<<\/b><\/a><\/p>\n \u201cThis place is a living celebration of the truly incredible contributions Jacksonville has made to American music,\u201d said Jacksonville Mayor Donna Deegan.<\/p>\n Visitors can also experience the renovated Riverwalk, which can now be accessed from the Riverside Arts Market to the Hyatt. The bridge over the newly daylighted McCoy\u2019s Creek is complete, and the Corkscrew fitness area has been refurbished.<\/p>\n Among those honored with a plaque on the Garden\u2019s Walk of Fame is the 90s hip-hop group 95 South, known for hits like \u201cWhoot, There It Is.\u201d One half of the duo, Carlos \u201cDaddy Black\u201d Spencer, a Jacksonville native, expressed how it felt to see his plaque today.<\/p>\n [DOWNLOAD: <\/b>Free Action News Jax app for alerts as news breaks<\/b><\/a>]<\/b><\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s unbelievable. We are forever part of the history of Jacksonville,\u201d said Spencer.<\/p>\n \u201cJacksonville has always been overlooked, and part of the reason, I believe, is because there was never really a culture here to properly support artists.
