{"id":795646,"date":"2026-05-14T10:56:22","date_gmt":"2026-05-14T10:56:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/795646\/"},"modified":"2026-05-14T10:56:22","modified_gmt":"2026-05-14T10:56:22","slug":"eugene-families-can-learn-budgeting-basics-at-free-ymca-class-local","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/795646\/","title":{"rendered":"Eugene families can learn budgeting basics at free YMCA class | Local"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>EUGENE, Ore. &#8211; The Eugene Family YMCA is offering free financial literacy classes for adults, high schoolers and middle schoolers.<\/p>\n<p>The program is called &#8220;Financial Beginnings.&#8221; In partnership with Oregon Community Credit Union, the classes will teach participants how to manage credit cards, understand credit reports and balance checkbooks.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Now, let&#8217;s teach them how to be financially responsible at a young age, and how to understand stuff like, what does a credit report look like? How do you balance your checkbook? Things like that&#8230;real basic stuff,&#8221; Casper said.<\/p>\n<p>The course will also cover financial budgeting and personal information security measures. Casper said the YMCA wants to help youth avoid identity fraud and protect their savings.<\/p>\n<p>The class is scheduled for May 19 from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. It&#8217;s free for YMCA members and all youth. Adult guest passes can be purchased.<\/p>\n<p>Registration in advance is required.
