(Photo by Tim Warner\/Getty Images) (Tim Warner,  2019 Tim Warner)<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\"><strong>HOUSTON<\/strong> \u2013 The WNBA is officially returning to Houston.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">The league announced Wednesday that WNBA and NBA owners unanimously approved the sale of the Connecticut Sun and the team\u2019s relocation to Houston ahead of the 2027 season.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">The franchise is being sold by the Mohegan Tribe to Houston Rockets owner Tilman Fertitta.<\/p>\n<ul class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 kDvXdO font_openSans articleList\">\n<li class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__StackBase-sc-1fnzlkn-7 ecGWWE iQviKm\"\/><\/ul>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">The Sun will continue to play in Connecticut through the remainder of the 2026 season before officially moving to Houston in 2027.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">The move marks the return of the WNBA to Houston for the first time since the Houston Comets folded in 2008.
