It\u2019s\u00a0been over a year since the Los Angeles wildfires devastated many densely populated neighborhoods and displaced thousands of families.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
Our Disaster Relief Fund helps provide limited financial resources to support CFA members who have experienced hardship\u00a0as a result of\u00a0these fires.\u00a0\u00a0Members have a total of\u00a018 months\u00a0from when the LA wildfires first began to file a request.\u00a0Now,\u00a0less than two months\u00a0remain\u00a0<\/strong>to do so.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n \u201cDuring the Eaton fires in 2025, I was displaced from my home for five days in a cramped motel room with my husband, two children, and three cats, not knowing whether we would have a home to return to,\u201d said Robin Dodds, CFA Los Angeles secretary and CSU Los Angeles professor. \u201cWe were the fortunate ones whose home was spared, and we have so much gratitude for the firefighters who worked tirelessly in Sierra Madre\u2019s Little Santa Anita Canyon to put out the flames and support our communities\u2019 recovery. My family also is forever grateful to CFA\u2019s Disaster Relief Fund, which reimbursed all my costs during the displacement and relieved us from financial worry. I am so proud that my union was there for us when we needed help!\u201d\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n The goal of this fund is not to replace insurance or governmental\u00a0assistance, but to provide a supplemental reimbursement for those unusual costs which often stretch our budgets. The fund is reimbursement-based\u00a0so receipts\/documentation are\u00a0required.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n Members can find\u00a0assistance and eligibility details<\/a>\u00a0under CFA\u2019s Membership Resources.
