The ABC\u2019s The View\u00a0panel have ripped into Spencer Pratt\u2019s campaign<\/a> for mayor of\u00a0Los Angeles, claiming he lacks the political experience to run the nation\u2019s second-biggest city while criticizing his use of artificial intelligence for campaign videos.<\/p>\n

The criticism came as Pratt\u2019s unconventional mayoral push<\/a> continued to gain attention online and as incumbent\u00a0Karen Bass\u00a0faces mounting scrutiny over her her term in office, particularly over the handling of January\u2019s devastating wildfires.<\/p>\n

Moderator\u00a0Whoopi Goldberg\u00a0said she was \u201cfreaked out\u201d by the AI-generated video <\/a>tied to Pratt\u2019s campaign and claimed celebrity status alone shouldn\u2019t qualify someone for public office.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf they know what they\u2019re doing, I welcome anybody who knows how to do this,\u201d Goldberg said. \u201cBut if you\u2019re going to be like the guy who\u2019s already in charge, thank you, no.\u201d<\/p>\n

Moderator\u00a0Whoopi Goldberg\u00a0said she was \u201cfreaked out\u201d by the AI-generated video tied to Pratt\u2019s campaign.<\/p>\n

\u201cJust because somebody is famous or is famous for something doesn\u2019t mean they know what\u2019s going on and how you are thinking and how you\u2019re feeling,<\/p>\n

Pratt is polling at 22%<\/a> while Bass has maintained a lead of 30% with lefty Nithya Raman just behind him at 19%, according to a May Emerson poll.<\/p>\n

Co-host\u00a0Sara Haines\u00a0took a more sympathetic tone toward Pratt\u2019s candidacy, saying she appreciated that he became politically engaged after being personally impacted by the California wildfires.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat I liked about Spencer Pratt throwing his hat in there is he was affected by the California wildfires and he decided, \u2018I\u2019m going to do something about it,\u2019\u201d Haines said.<\/p>\n

Still, Haines said the AI-generated campaign imagery raised serious concerns, particularly because it allegedly featured celebrities who did not consent to their likenesses being used.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur brains aren\u2019t designed to say, \u2018Oh, that\u2019s not really Hugh Jackman saying these things,\u2019\u201d she said. There is no record of actor Hugh Jackman, who appears in one AI video, endorsing Pratt. <\/p>\n

Hosts of ABC\u2019s\u00a0The View\u00a0clashed<\/a> over reality television personality\u00a0Spencer Pratt\u00a0and his campaign for mayor of\u00a0Los Angeles.<\/p>\n

Pratt entered the race after losing his own home in the deadly Palisades fires, citing the lack of response and recovery efforts by the\u00a0Karen\u00a0administration. He has made this the forefront of his campaign.<\/p>\n

Conservative co-host\u00a0Alyssa Farah Griffin\u00a0said she believed there was \u201ca path\u201d for Pratt politically, especially given voter frustration following the wildfire crisis, but argued the use of AI in campaigns could easily mislead voters.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think introducing A.I. into campaigns in general is super dangerous,\u201d Griffin said. \u201cI think it can be incredibly misleading. It makes people think there\u2019s endorsements that aren\u2019t taking place.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Hollywood blockbuster-inspired video created by a Pratt supporter \u2014 not by his official campaign \u2014 is drawing attention as the Los Angeles mayoral candidate gains momentum just weeks before the election. <\/p>\n

The AI-generated clip portrays Spencer Pratt as a Batman-like superhero called on to save a dystopian Los Angeles from the Democratic establishment, with incumbent Mayor\u00a0Karen Bass\u00a0depicted as the Joker.<\/p>\n

Hostin rejected Pratt comparing his background to that of former President\u00a0Barack Obama. Carlin Stiehl for California Post<\/p>\n

Griffin, who took issue with such portrayal, also warned that governing Los Angeles would require far more than social media popularity.<\/p>\n

\u201cGetting elected is the easy part of the job,\u201d she said. \u201cGoverning three million people in Los Angeles \u2014 and fixing what is a broken system \u2014 is what\u2019s hard.\u201d<\/p>\n

Goldberg quickly interjected: \u201cYeah, you actually have to know what you\u2019re doing.\u201d<\/p>\n

Los Angeles is the second-largest city in the United States by population, with more than 3.8 million residents. The mayor\u2019s office operates on a budget of more than $14 billion and is consistently at the center of national and international attention, especially with the FIFA World Cup and the 2028 Olympics coming to the city.<\/p>\n

Co-host\u00a0Joy Behar\u00a0strongly defended Bass while mocking Pratt\u2019s entertainment background.<\/p>\n

\u201cSo, Karen Bass has a JFK Profile in Courage Award,\u201d Behar said. \u201cShe navigated California through the worst economic crisis since the Depression. Spencer Pratt was snapchatter of the year.\u201d<\/p>\n

The comment drew laughter from the studio audience.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, co-host\u00a0Sunny Hostin\u00a0argued Pratt lacked the qualifications needed to oversee Los Angeles\u2019 nearly $15 billion city budget.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re talking about a $14.9 billion budget for the city,\u201d Hostin said. \u201cIt\u2019s the second largest city budget in the country, and he is not qualified for it.\u201d<\/p>\n

Hostin pointed to figures including\u00a0Ronald Reagan\u00a0and\u00a0Arnold Schwarzenegger\u00a0as examples of entertainers who transitioned into politics, but noted both had prior governing or leadership experience before holding top office.<\/p>\n

She also rejected Pratt comparing his background to that of former President\u00a0Barack Obama.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou don\u2019t have the same experience,\u201d Hostin said. \u201cYou don\u2019t have a law degree from Harvard Law School. You were not a senator.\u201d<\/p>\n

Instead, Hostin suggested Pratt should consider running for city council first to gain governing experience before seeking the mayor\u2019s office.<\/p>\n

Karen Bass\u00a0responded to the video during an interview with\u00a0CNN, saying, \u201cWhen you do that, and when your messages are so hateful and when you demonize people, then you do provoke people who are unstable, and you can jeopardize people\u2019s safety.\u201d<\/p>\n

Pratt, who rose to fame on MTV\u2019s\u00a0The Hills\u00a0alongside wife\u00a0Heidi Montag, has increasingly leaned into political commentary and viral online activism following the Southern California wildfires.<\/p>\n
