{"id":796827,"date":"2026-05-14T22:53:12","date_gmt":"2026-05-14T22:53:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/796827\/"},"modified":"2026-05-14T22:53:12","modified_gmt":"2026-05-14T22:53:12","slug":"teen-gets-10-25-years-for-fatal-south-philly-carjacking","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/796827\/","title":{"rendered":"Teen gets 10-25 years for fatal South Philly carjacking"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>SOUTH PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) \u2014 A teenager who admitted to fatally shooting a man in South Philadelphia over a car was sentenced Thursday to at least a decade in prison.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>Rasheed Banks Jr. was 15-years-old when shot and killed 50-year-old Michael Salerno in July 2023 over his Pontiac sedan.<\/p>\n<p>Banks pleaded guilty in February to third degree murder, conspiracy, robbery of a motor vehicle and a gun offense. Three other firearm charges were dropped.<\/p>\n<p>Police said Banks <a href=\"https:\/\/www.audacy.com\/kywnewsradio\/news\/local\/teen-wanted-for-murder-during-attempted-carjacking#\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">was one of three armed suspects who jumped out of a Red Kia Soul and tried to steal the car<\/a> at 11th and Porter Streets in South Philadelphia.
