The father of Manhattan Assemblyman Alex Bores, a leading candidate in the Democratic race to represent the NY-12th <\/a>congressional district, lauded the deaths of Israelis during the Iran war on social media while equating Zionism with Nazism, archived posts reviewed by the News show.<\/p>\n

William Bores, a technical director at ABC<\/a> and former union leader, wrote: \u201cNazis and Zionists, both better off dead\u201d about an ambush of Israeli troops in Lebanon in a post on the Threads site available for review on an internet archive.<\/p>\n

Bores, who was a leader in the Communication Workers of America, also celebrated the death of an Israeli civilian hit by shrapnel from an Iranian missile attack.<\/a><\/p>\n

\u201cWhat a shame, the world lost another supporter of genocide,\u201d he wrote<\/a>. \u201cFAFO,\u201d he commented on the death of an 11-year-old Israeli girl<\/a> in another Iranian attack. The acronym stands for \u201cfool around and find out,\u201d a saying seen as linking certain consequences to actions.<\/p>\n

William Bores also trashed Democratic congressional leaders<\/a> Rep. Hakeem Jeffries and Sen. Chuck Schumer as \u201cbought and paid for by Israel.\u201d<\/p>\n

The posts were first reported by Jewish Insider.<\/a><\/p>\n

William Bores\u2019 social media account is now private<\/a> but the posts were captured on an internet archive. He has been a public supporter of his son\u2019s campaign and is listed on much of Alex Bores\u2019 campaign literature.<\/p>\n

Alex Bores, a state assemblyman representing an Upper East Side district, did not deny his father made the posts but insisted they don\u2019t reflect his own views.<\/p>\n

\u201cI love my dad, value what I\u2019ve learned from him, and disagree with many of the things he\u2019s said,\u201d the lawmaker said in a statement Thursday. \u201cHis posts don\u2019t reflect who I am or what I believe. It\u2019s a dynamic a lot of families can recognize.\u201d<\/p>\n

Bores, 35, is locked in a crowded fight for the NY-12 seat being vacated by retiring Rep. Jerry Nadler<\/a>. The district, covering the Upper West Side and Upper East Side, includes the largest Jewish population of any in the nation.<\/p>\n

Other candidates in the June 23 primary include Assemblyman Micah Lasher, a Nadler protege; social media influencer Jack Schlossberg; and George Conway, a prominent critic of President Trump.<\/p>\n

Lasher, who is Jewish, and Bores both portray themselves as strong supporters of Israel, although they say they disagree with some policies of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.<\/p>\n
