The latter may not technically be a holiday, but for all intents and purposes it\u2019s a day reserved for families. Players know that business takes precedence during the season \u2014 and Christmas will be an off day for the Birds \u2014 but the league doesn\u2019t normally interrupt both holidays for one team. Other than that, a first glance at the slate doesn\u2019t reveal much to gripe about.<\/p>\n Olivia Reiner: <\/strong>That the league is making the Eagles wait for the 2025 wild-card rematch against the 49ers until Week 17. I thought it was a mistake last year that the Eagles didn\u2019t get to see the Commanders \u2014 the team they walloped in the NFC championship game the year prior \u2014 until Week 16. By that point, the juice that lingered from the playoffs had dissipated, especially with the Commanders already out of postseason contention. That 49ers game could still be plenty meaningful, but by waiting until the end of the season, the league runs the risk of it being irrelevant if either team takes a major step back in 2026.<\/p>\n Jeff Neiburg:<\/strong> The Eagles getting eight primetime games \u2014 I\u2019m counting London \u2014 isn\u2019t a surprise to me. They\u2019re in a big market and they\u2019ve been pretty good and are always interesting. The surprise to me is that one of them isn\u2019t the Rams game. For the second consecutive season, the Eagles and Rams \u2014 two of the best teams in the NFC \u2014 will meet for a 1 p.m. kickoff at Lincoln Financial Field. Not every game can be in the spotlight, but it feels like this one deserves a bigger stage.<\/p>\n Show more<\/p>\n The Eagles have a ton of primetime games. Five NFL teams have none.<\/p>\n The Eagles will certainly be in the spotlight this season.<\/p>\n Jalen Hurts<\/a> and company landed five primetime games, eight national windows, and just five 1 p.m. kickoffs, at least for now.<\/p>\n By comparison, there are five NFL teams that didn’t earn a single primetime spotlight \u2013 New York Jets, Arizona Cardinals, Tennessee Titans, Miami Dolphins, The game will either air on Fox in the afternoon or CBS in the evening.<\/p>\n The Saturday game frees up the Eagles to be scheduled to play on Christmas Eve, which falls on a Thursday this year. You have to imagine there will be some bachelor and bachelorette parties built around this one.<\/p>\n The Eagles haven\u2019t played in Nashville since 2018, and the city\u2019s famous Broadway strip might feel more like Broad Street than Honkytonk, just like Bourbon Street morphs into South Street-lite every time the Eagles are in New Orleans.<\/p>\n Besides finding out if they need to get their passports ready, there probably isn\u2019t a road game that has the attention of Eagles fans like the short flight to Nashville does.<\/p>\n \u2014 Jeff Neiburg<\/a><\/p>\n Two Eagles prime time games reported<\/p>\n Despite a disappointing early exit from the playoffs last season, the Eagles remain a big TV draw.<\/p>\n The Birds’ Week 2 Super Bowl rematch last season against the Kansas City Chiefs drew 33.8 million viewers, the most for a regular-season game that didn’t take place on Thanksgiving. Here are some things to know:<\/p>\n NFL triples-down on Christmas:<\/strong> This year, the league will celebrate Christmas on a Friday with three games \u2014 two on Netflix, and a third evening game on Fox. It\u2019s just the third time since 1989 the NFL has scheduled Friday Christmas games \u2014 San Diego Chargers vs. Tennessee Titans in 2009 and New Orleans Saints vs. Minnesota Vikings in 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic, which drew over 20 million viewers<\/a> and shifted the league\u2019s mindset about the holiday.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n Netflix gets more games, including a new Thanksgiving eve window:<\/strong> In addition to its two Christmas games, the NFL created a new Thanksgiving eve window at 8 p.m. that Netflix will stream through the 2029 season. The streamer also landed the NFL’s first-ever game in Australia in Week 1 and Week 18 game at 1 p.m. which will have playoff implications. <\/p>\n<\/li>\n So much for the death of broadcast TV: <\/strong>In an era where more and more games are going behind a streaming paywall, the NFL carved out new national games for NBC, CBS, and Fox. NBC\u2019s new game will be a Week 17 Saturday night special that will air at 4:30 p.m. Philly time on Jan. 2, while CBS landed a Saturday night game in Week 15, which will air Dec. 19 at 8 p.m. Fox landed the league\u2019s Munich game in Week 10, creating a rare \u201ctriple-header\u201d of games airing all day that Sunday. It also landed the earlier Saturday game in Week 15. <\/p>\n<\/li>\n Peacock gets an exclusive game, but not YouTube: <\/strong>Peacock, NBC\u2019s subscription streaming service, will offer one exclusive NFL game this season \u2014 a Saturday night matchup in Week 17. The odd streamer out appears to be YouTube, which didn’t make any NFL announcements at its upfront presentation Wednesday and reportedly \u201cbalked\u201d at the idea of splitting a package of games with Netflix<\/a>, according to Puck.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n
