{"id":798474,"date":"2026-05-15T15:37:14","date_gmt":"2026-05-15T15:37:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/798474\/"},"modified":"2026-05-15T15:37:14","modified_gmt":"2026-05-15T15:37:14","slug":"barnes-foundation-presents-freedom-dreams-through-aug-9","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/798474\/","title":{"rendered":"Barnes Foundation Presents &#8216;Freedom Dreams&#8217; Through Aug. 9"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Barnes Foundation in <a href=\"https:\/\/957benfm.com\/tag\/Philadelphia\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Philadelphia<\/a> is presenting the &#8220;Freedom Dreams&#8221; exhibition through Aug. 9, using moving images to explore what freedom means for Black people in the United States.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/6abc.com\/post\/6abc-loves-arts-freedom-dreams-view-august-9-barnes-foundation\/19059045\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">According to an Action News 6abc report<\/a>, the exhibition features five works by intergenerational artists from across the United States, curated to examine Black radical imagination and social change through culture.<\/p>\n<p>Philadelphia-based artist David Hartt is one of the individuals connected with the project.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;His work is called &#8216;On Exactitude in Science (Watts),&#8217; and it looks at the historically African American community of Watts in Los Angeles,&#8221; said James Claiborne, co-curator of &#8220;Freedom Dreams&#8221; and vice president for engagement at the Barnes Foundation.<\/p>\n<p>Ja&#8217;Tovia Gary&#8217;s &#8220;Quiet as It&#8217;s Kept&#8221; weaves Toni Morrison&#8217;s The Bluest Eye into the narrative to explore Black female identity, sexuality, and colorism.<\/p>\n<p>Garrett Bradley&#8217;s &#8220;America&#8221; combines contemporary footage with rare material from the 1913 silent film Lime Kiln Club Field Day to depict Black everyday life and joy in the early 20th century as a form of freedom.<\/p>\n<p>Tourmaline&#8217;s Pollinator meditates on the life and impact of trans artist and activist Marsha P.
