{"id":799128,"date":"2026-05-15T22:04:18","date_gmt":"2026-05-15T22:04:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/799128\/"},"modified":"2026-05-15T22:04:18","modified_gmt":"2026-05-15T22:04:18","slug":"weekend-freeway-closures-to-impact-drivers-across-the-phoenix-area","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/799128\/","title":{"rendered":"Weekend freeway closures to impact drivers across the Phoenix area"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"text | article-text text-start\"><b>PHOENIX (AZFamily)<\/b> \u2014 Valley drivers should plan ahead this weekend, as several freeway closures and lane restrictions are scheduled across the Phoenix area.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text text-start\">ADOT says the work could cause delays and drivers should allow extra time and use other routes when they can. <\/p>\n<p><b>Interstate 10 <\/b><\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Eastbound I-10 will be closed near the Deck Park Tunnel from the I-17 \u201cStack\u201d interchange to State Route 51. The closure will last from 9 p.m. Friday to 9 a.m. Saturday. <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Drivers can use southbound I-17 and get back on I-10 near Sky Harbor Airport.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Westbound I-10 will also be closed near the tunnel. That closure will be between the I-17 \u201cSplit\u201d interchange and 7th Avenue from 9 p.m. Saturday to 9 a.m. Sunday.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">ADOT says drivers can use northbound I-17 near Sky Harbor Airport and reconnect with I-10 at the Stack interchange north of Van Buren Street.<\/p>\n<p><b>State Route 51 <\/b><\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Pavement improvements will cause a closure of southbound SR 51 between Northern Avenue and Highland Avenue from 9 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Drivers can use the southbound I-17 as a detour and use city streets to navigate around the closure. <\/p>\n<p><b>Loop 101 (Agua Fria Freeway)<\/b><\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">In the West Valley, southbound Loop 101 will be closed between Indian School Road and I-10 from 9 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">The southbound Loop 101 on-ramps at Cardinals Way and Camelback Road will also be closed<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Drivers can use southbound 91st or 99th avenues to reach I-10.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">The work is part of a three-year project to improve the <a href=\"https:\/\/maps.app.goo.gl\/1eHGub6PMc67jvNp6\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Loop 101 and I-10<\/a> interchange. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.azfamily.com\/2026\/05\/13\/freeway-closures-begin-friday-interchange-project-west-valley\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.azfamily.com\/2026\/05\/13\/freeway-closures-begin-friday-interchange-project-west-valley\/\">Read more about the project here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><b>Loop 101 (Pima Freeway)<\/b><\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Another segment of Loop 101 in Scottsdale will be narrowed to two lanes in both directions between Shea Boulevard and Princess Drive for pavement improvements.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">The lane restrictions will last from 10 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">ADOT says some southbound Loop 101 ramps may close at times. Drivers should think about getting off the freeway before the work zone.<\/p>\n<p><b>Loop 202 (Santan Freeway)<\/b><\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">More closures in the East Valley include eastbound Loop 202, which will be narrowed to two lanes between Arizona Avenue and McQueen Road from 10 p.m. Friday to 2 p.m. Saturday for a widening project. <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">The eastbound Loop 202 on-ramp at Arizona Avenue will also be closed. <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Lindsay Road will be closed in both directions at Loop 202 from 10 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday.<\/p>\n<p><b>Loop 303 <\/b><\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Eastbound Loop 303 will be closed between 43rd Avenue and I-17 from 9 p.m. Friday to 8 a.m. Saturday for construction. <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Drivers can detour on northbound 43rd Avenue to eastbound Dove Valley Road to access I-17.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">ADOT says restriction schedules are subject to change because of weather or other factors.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\"><b>State Route 347<\/b><\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">South of the Valley, the intersection of SR 347 and Riggs Road north of Maricopa is scheduled to close Sunday intermittently for traffic signal and utility work.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">ADOT says the intersection could close in all directions for up to 15 minutes at a time between 4 a.m. and 4 p.m.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">The work is being done ahead of a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.azfamily.com\/2025\/06\/22\/city-maricopa-celebrates-big-win-after-adot-approves-sr-347-expansion-plan\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.azfamily.com\/2025\/06\/22\/city-maricopa-celebrates-big-win-after-adot-approves-sr-347-expansion-plan\/\">major widening project<\/a> that will expand SR 347 from a two-lane highway to three lanes.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Drivers should expect delays and allow extra travel time.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"figure-img img-fluid mx-auto d-block\" alt=\"Several Phoenix-area freeway closures and lane restrictions are scheduled this weekend, with...\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/NJ32RTXDEJBHHLETIO2EUIRLNY.jpg\" width=\"980\" height=\"757\" \/>Several Phoenix-area freeway closures and lane restrictions are scheduled this weekend, with drivers urged to plan ahead and expect delays.(Arizona Department of Transportation)<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text text-start\">See a spelling or grammatical error in our story? <a href=\"https:\/\/www.azfamily.com\/page\/send-us-your-feedback\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Please click here to report it<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text text-start\">Do you have a photo or video of a breaking news story?
